Well it wont really be a website, it will be a forum. I will make a forum where people can advertise their stuff. Membership will be only $5. That will be the ONLY payment. People can advertise as much as they want. I will have sections, like Books, Furniture, Computer Stuff and more. And to bring more people, I might do a thing where people who sign up don't have to pay membership. Like from February 1st to March 1st, who ever signs up, gets free membership. After March 1st, you have to start paying. I have a PayPal account where they can send me money. What do you think?
Btw, I'll make it on on a forum thats free.

Hi,
I develop websites as a main part of my job. While your idea shows potential for understanding the commercialization of the web, it probably has very little chance of becoming economically viable.
If you like to spend time designing websites or creating "forums, think of something that interests you and develop quality content that relates to it. The best possible scenario would be something that is slightly obscure or at least not overdone and that also has commercial potential ( i.e people would have products that somehow relate to your content and would want to advertise there.)
It is important that you register your own domain ( try networksolutions.com or there are other lower cost options out there too)
Possible ideas would be a weather site for a popular tourist destination like http://www.turksandcaicosweather.com/ the person who developed this site didn't spend a lot of time on it but researched a lot of information on weather for this caribbean island put it all together and then sold links to other sites for over $200 / year. In addition to this he also makes money from the google ads you see on the right side of the page (more about this later)
Other ideas might be writing a review of places you have visited or specific information you are interested in, have a rudimentary knowledge of and know how to research such as "investing for teens" if you could write a decent article on this subject find some quality incoming links that would bring people to the site and set up your google adsense account to display ads on hte page i am certain you would make money.

If you could possibly make it Free Membership for 10 days to see if they like it... then make them pay their 5 dolars after the 10 days... dont make a whole month of free membership thats a rip off. |

You need to have free membership and then make money off of the advertisements. A lot of places like stores and other websites pay you if you "refer" a customer that purchases items. That is how you make the money. You need interesting stuff on the site to gain a lot of viewers and then use stores that they would likely be interested in. haha this is funny u remind me of my brother .. he came up with this idea about 4 years ago .. and then 2 years of hard work he failed .... there is 100000 web sites with free forums .. u need something which makes ur website special .. u need something that will attract visitors to ur website .... coz why would anyone wanna advertise at ur website.. u need to have many visitors in the first place ...

Lol, you are cute. I have ran a forum for 5 years for free( one day I will take the steps I need to make it so I can make some money from it,lol, but not right now, I'm still experimenting with things).
To have a good forum, you will probably want to get a host that you will pay to host the forum. If you pay for it, you can basically do what you want, and not have the forum deleted, because you didn't follow a rule. You will also have to pay for a domain name, I understand"Go daddy" has some reasonable program right now,I don't know, because I didn't look. Most people I know that get paid for forums also apply to see if they can get advertising, usually from google or another place. They also usually put a pay pal button up, so that people can volunteer to pay if they want.

I would suggest you contact www.score.org and talk to them about your ideas.
Just because you're 13 doesn't mean you cannot make a go of things.
Do a Google/Yahoo search for "teen millionaires" and you'll find a lot of resources on teens who have taken a small idea and made it big.
Ignore the Neggie Nellies that may come out of the woodwork. If you've got the desire to be an entrepreneur I say GO FOR IT!

don't think you'll make a profit, there are already plenty of free classified ads out there. good for you for trying to do something on your own though, even though I don't think it will work you should try it anyway, you'll learn something, if you keep trying to do things like this then you'll be more than ready to be a successful adult businessperson. Don't listen to anyone who says you can't do it 'cause blah blah, just try.
Here's a suggestion:
Maybe you could set up a free classified ad service for your local area and do something like make pickups and deliveries for a small fee, (you and your friends could work together so then when your business gets bigger it won't just be you) that way you would make more money and wouldn't have to worry about paperwork, once you've been doing it for a while and have established yourself in the community you can try convincing local businesses to advertise with you. Just do it in baby steps. Colleges like to hear about kids that try to do this kind of stuff too, it shows initiative. Go go go! |
