I am selling my laptop on eBay and he said he lived in Europe and couldn't access PayPal and wants his customers to send me their payments and me to take out my 200 then send him the rest via MoneyGram. do you think this is ok, safe? would you do it? I was looking at MoneyGram just now and they require your SSN it says to help prevent criminal activity and it kinda worried me? need help kinda bad!!!!!!!

I would definitely stay out of that cause it blatantly looks like a scam.
Advice.. when dealing or eBay, never deal with someone who send you directly a message to your email.. Only deal with people who've spoke to you through eBay, or when eBay sends you directly a message.
Also, never accepts someone who wants to pay with an other paying method than PayPal. PayPal is the safest way to make transactions on eBay. To not even accept if they offer you to use another kind of PayPal service.. |

You wouldn't go to jail as much as be totally scammed and possibly ripped off. This is the beginning of identity theft. Trust me on this one, seen lots like it in banking. It's NOT safe. Don't be used as a clearing house for anyone. You won't get the cash, but you WILL get a lot of trouble. No matter how good it sounds, it stinks. |

You could, I don't know. But don't go along, that's part of an international fraud scam. By the time they get their money for nothing, you'll be in the red for all of yours.
This has been on the news briefly and in a few bank/checking/credit card ads. |

Don't fall for this, PLEASE. Use your common sense- why would a stranger ask you, another stranger, for this kind of help in exchange for financial gain. It is a SCAM of some sort, leave it be or you'll be SORRY.

I really wouldnt recomend doing that, The person is lying - you can access PayPal from europe, I do it on a daily basis no problem.
What could happen is the payments are made into your paypal account, you take out your $200 and give the rest to the other person, then PayPal recieves an email from the conmans accomplice saying he didnt recieve the item, then paypal reverses the transaction. If it was a $1000 item you could be $800 down. |

Uh no, not at all, because what they are going to do is basically forge money and put it into your account, it will just vanish... and you will end up owing paypal money.. this is hard to explain, but I was taught this about 4 years ago from Fed Ex...
There was the money for an Item in my account, so i figured ok, time to ship and Fed Ex wouldn't ship until I actually withdrew the money and waited to see if it was actual money... i was shipping to an area with a lot of scams... I was un aware... anyway... the money was "fake" and it was good I was informed because would have lost over $600 on electronics and owed paypal like $400.... |
