I see this question every day and wanted to add some light. There are basically four ways to become a millionare. The first is to win the lottery. The odds in powerball are around 1:147Million. That means if you had $147 million worth of tickets you would be guaranteed to win. The next is to inherit the money. You know personally the odds of that. The second is to work your way through college, get an advanced degree like I have an MBA and work your way up the corporate ladder. The fourth method is to open your own business.

Options 3 and 4 are the best choice. It takes a commitment.... but as you dream of becoming one, you will also see it slowly in your bank accounts, stocks, etc. Options 1 and 2 are like being up to bat in the bottom of the ninth facing a 3-2 pitch and down by one run and you need to hit a home run... lots of luck. I guess anything can happen.. those will happen probably the same time that Pigs fly. |

The lottery is for dreamers. use the money you have right now more wisely. do you have a landline phone? switch to VOIP for example, but here is the kicker, once you use one of those monthly savings, take the money you save and invest it or use it to pay off debt. it is not extra spending money. Also debt elimination is the key, if you have credit cards that have balances you will always be paying outrageous rates. if you just invest 25 a month in the market in a few years you will see how much that adds up.
if you can get your money to work for you ie: open an online money market as they pay 10 times what a brick and mortar bank pays. that is a smart use of your money. if you are going to buy anything, make sure you get something for it, whether it is cash back on your purchase from a cc or debit card you are going to buy that anyway, I have a credit card that pays 5% at gas stations and 1.25% on other purchases, I take that credit amount on my statement and put that money in an investment account and after doing this for 8 months I actually had money in there that I would have spent anyway but now it is earning 8% in a closed end bond fund. There is all kinds of fun ways to do that. I earn 5.20% in my paypal account and they have a free debit card that gives me a 1% rebate on all purchases I make using it as a credit card, So I make money spending and not spending. kinda cool and once you get use to this you find it is fun and rewarding and that is how people build wealth they watch waht they sepnd, spend wisely and when they do spend...they get something for it |
