You are probably better renting privately this is more costly or try some housing associations these are sometimes slightly cheaper, you will be on the council list for an eternity! |

Why do you think you're entitled to a council house? You don't need one, plenty of people do. If you want one simply because you're not working, then that's really out of order. Have some pride and get off your bum and sort yourself out somewhere to live. |

Declare yourself homeless. And that you are only allowed to stay at you parent's home for a short period. |

good luck with this one... getting a house with the council is almost impossible.... ive been on a list for a move for three years, i have two young children and live in an area full of young and violent people, i have had my car brokn into and my door set fire to, and im still not getting anywhere fast!!!
the only way to get a house in quick time is either to opt for a hard to let area, not reccomended if you want a quiet life, or lie your way to a new house... ive been honest with the council and got no where so good luck, i hope you get a house soon |

depends where you live! alot of councils have a waiting list long than your arm...normally in your circumstances and down south around 6-10 yrs give or take...any medical circumstances? etc may help but there are priorities like single parents that are in b&b etc |

How about you start by getting a job and earning some money and privately renting afterall council houses are for the needy so dont be greedy shift your butt and work. |

Unless you're an unwed teenage chavette, you don't have a chance.
A work colleagues daughter was on the list for 12 years and never got anywhere, just save your pennies or get a friend to move in with. |

If you don't have children you will never get a council house only a flat. Also you have a home so I would say you are right near the bottom of the list so unless your circumstances change you should look into privately renting. |

easy .get yourself pregnant then tell the council and they will set you up in a nice 2 to 3 bedroon house or flat that should have been allocated for a family who work hard and pay their taxes unless you have have been queue jumped by a group of illegal immigrants who have just juimped off a lorry denying you who probably have not worked a day in your life the chance to afford a decent cheap home , but if you manage to get this council house just imagine the millions of people who worked all of their lives and end up living in over priced housing just so they could subsidise you in your house that you will turn into a slum because you will not look after it.you will not pay the bills.you willl turn it into a dump,I pay over 100 pound a week for a 2 bedroom flat because of lazy good fornothing arseholes like you,get a job pay taxes stop feeling sorry for yourself and make a contribution to society |

I was actually homeless and was on the list for less than 6 months. The area i picked as my first option isn't very popular and my local council has a policy of not housing single mothers above the ground floor, in flats without lifts. |

how old are you? have you got a job? If youre old enough to be moving out youre old enough to have a job. Forget about having a council house youll just end up getting put in a bad area with horrible neighbours. Think about getting yourself a mortgage. If youre on a steady income then get down to the bank and see about a mortage. then you can choose the place you want to live in and enjoy living there. i am a council tenant and wish i could get a mortgage but being self employed and a council tenent no lender wants to lend me. youre looked down on by a lot of people for being a council tenant i feel. AIM HIGH. |

Do you live on the moon?
Look at any housing estate in England.....simply get pregnant, have a child, do nothing else, and times by 3 to 6, depending on how many you can handle.
Thats the way I see it. |

why dont you go and get a job and rent a house and let those who really need a home for genuine reasons have the council house. |

You will never get to the top of the list, being single with no children. My brother has been on it for years and unfortunately the pregnant single mothers jump way ahead of you. The lady who said get your mother to write a letter asking you to leave is right. Also you need points to get further up the list, in order to do this you need medical back up. ie letters from your doctor stating depression etc. I know its cheating but in these days you have to do it in order to get anywhere. Also we found complete hassling does the trick. Dont give up hassling them and if you see anywhere empty ring them and hassle until they get so fed up with you they house you. Good luck. |

sorry, it will take years, why don't you just rent or buy. you can also buy with a friend if you can't afford this alone |

I've worked my @rse off for the past 10 years and payed taxes to fund families, chavs and illegal immigrants and I cant even afford to buy my own house. It costs me £1000 just to live per month (private rent and bills) So f*** it - if you cant beat 'em join em. I'm gonna lie and say that im homeless. I dont feel guilty cos I ve paid taxes and I want an easy life. whats wrong with that? |

I agree with Gem, you need to get your parents to write a letter saying that you can no longer live there and that you need to be out by a certain date.
Some councils may put you up in a hostel for a few nights after that date before they get you a house.
Every council is different. When i was looking i applied to do different ones and i waited about 15 months for a house, by which time my daughter was 10 months old.
If you are single they will offer you a flat and if you are under 21 the flats they offer you are tiny and in the worst areas imaginable!
Hang in there you will get something x |

firstly by been homeless doesn't put you to the top of the list as they will put you in an homeless shelter or b+b you just have to wait your turn which unfortunately does take years due to the right to buy and the asylum seekers they now not having enough houses..you'd be better off private..good luck |

Hi, Me and my partner applied for a council house and the process was very slow. If your parents decided that they could no longer cope with you at home and that their home was over crowded and they wanted you out. A letter to the council may help. Good luck! |

It took our family seven years to get a council flat and we were four in a bed sit. but the way to get extra points on the council list is to get pregnant or get a really good tan and hang around one of the big Airports.Or stay at home with your parents and give others a chance. |
