There are loads of sites that offer you money saving tips and money offer vouchers, so look them up on any search engine.
Cutting up your credit cards and only allowing yourself pocket money will mean you have to think about every penny you spend.
Joining sites like yahoo free cycle means you may not have to buy any major Hesiod appliances again as users offer unwanted good (they are not allowed to charge) to save landfill.
You need to ask yourself every time you open your wallet do it need it or do I want it? If you only want it then you do need it so dont buy it.
Barter for goods if you have a job/trade that you can offer in exchange for other things people need,
Its not easy being frugal though, as you can kiss the pub and holidays goodbye and any expensive hobbies, you will have lots more free time as a result so maybe get another job to earn more money may be an additional bonus. |

It is possible to live frugally (how I hate that word) I prefer to call it sensible living.
Just buying what you need,
If you can't afford it - don't buy it.
If your credit card proves a temptation, cut it up.
There are so many easy ways to save money/economise but still live well.
The site below has some good ideas which might help you |

Have a plan. Be clear on why you are trying to live frugally. There are many "tips" that I could give you , but you really need motivation and to know "why" you want to live frugally.
Next look at your spending. You do need to live, pay for living costs etc. How about debt? do you have any? Then look at all of your expenses and see where you can cut things out.
Next take your monthly income and divide it up into categories. say 55% for necessities, 15% for saving, etc. but make sure you make a plan and follow it. Stay disciplined and work with a buddy to keep each other on track.
If you are looking for daily type money saving tips - just be conscious of what you spend your money on. Stop yourself each time you go to purchase something and ask yourself if you really need to buy it.
Good Luck,

Write down everything that you spend your money on. It might become apparent what you can cut down on if you do so. |

First of all deal only in cash.....snip up any credit or debit cards....then only go to the bank once a day and draw out £5...make sure you go just before closing time, so that is the max you can draw out.....throw away your bank cards for the hole in the wall.....If you restrict yourself to this amount you will soon save money....£5 a day is enough to live on, if you have already put away money for other expences such as fuel, rent etc. |

Stop using your credit card. Watch were you shop, we try to go to Trader Joes and such to save on food. We also rely on net flix over going out to the movies. Also try to take advantage of free local events. We live in DC so we try to get down the National Mall and the Smithsonian. |

Well, you summed it up "spending WAY too much money on stuff that I don't need"
Resist spending, make a shopping list, take it and use it ONLY buy stuff on the list - Nothing Else!
This way the BOGOF etc won't tempt you to buy more than you need.
Don't go out window shopping, or online window shopping.
Reduce waste - switch off lights, TV, PS3 when you are not using them.
If you are on a water meter, switch off the tap while brushing teeth, take showers not baths.
Do you have a car? Walk short journeys rather than drive, get a cheaper car to insure and tax. - but don't pay over the top for a new car! which wipes out any savings.
Get a better deal on the things you do buy, cheaper gas or electricity? get a better MPG from the car - drive better.
Save money for the future, don't blow it,
Do you smoke? - Give up! or Cut down.
Do you drink? - Drink Less or less often (every other week, rather than each weekend) |

Your sign is immediate gratification...........you need to lose that inspiration...............get it................ |

Frugal living means:
Never buying anything nice
Never going anywhere nice
Never being able to give anyone else anything nice
It's hellish. |
