Time Management, key to it all.
Be more productive in your time so when you are at work get your work done allowing you the time to be home with the kids.
Money isn't everything. A child would rather have their Dad there with them over a toy, a Dad sitting is FREE.
Look back at your own life...do you recall the toys and gifts you got or the moments and times you spent with family, friends, relatives, etc. |

Ebay can be an easy and fun way to make extra money. It doesn't take huge amounts of your free time, but does take a bit of capital to get started. There are programs out there that will walk you through getting set up, but they are generally a waste of money, and how someone else is getting rich! Find a supplier of a cheap product, or a liquidator of ANYTHING within driving distance. You can purchase a truckload of merchandise for pennies on the dollar and piece it out on Ebay for huge profits. Many people turn this into their main source of income after seeing how easy it is. Good luck! |

I suggest you can start your own business. How about an inhome day care. I've always wanted to do that. You can control your hours and spend all day with your kids. You could even home school them if you wanted to. |

Go to school or get some type of training in a higher paying job. Military is scary, but for broke folks it can sometimes be the only option. If your real broke and can't get in school, Look into job corp., and if your hot and impressionable become a bartender. |

Sometimes spending time with your kids is more important than having a lot of money. We did not have hardly anything growing up, but I learned to be creative, and my parents taught us that life is full of adventure and fun things that do not cost an arm and a leg. I have never seen Disneyland or world (nor do I want to), but I learned how to catch crawdads in a creek, fish, camp, hike, I can tell you 90% of the wildflowers and plants along a trail and things about each, and can do the same with bugs, butterflies, snakes and animal tracks. The zoo here is free as are the museums, and we frequented them a lot, so I learned a great deal of city culture as well. Picnics instead of restaurants - frisbee or catch is played better when outdoors and the kids remember that a lot longer. A great job is nice, a great memory is priceless. |

i wish i knew the answer as i have a similar problem.
one of the issues with money is that a person is never satisfied with what he has or makes. one always wants more.
i suggest that you take time weekly and larger amounts of time monthly to spend quality time with the kids so you don't miss out on their development and they don't miss out on the great parent that you really are! |

How about changing your perspective and focus. Yes, I agree that spending more time with your kids is a priority, but instead of making it about more money, why don't you consider cutting back on your wants and desires. Live very simply and non materialistically and enjoy your time with your children, instead of working so much. Many people think they NEED many things, but they actually need very little. The rest is wanting and if you really want to be with your kids then choose to want less of the things that cost money. |

I'm in the same boat. Just too hard these days to do it if you are working for somebody else. Either start your own business (risky but can also worthwhile) or if you have enough money saved up, move to another country. I know lots of people that don't plan to retire in the US cause it's too expensive to survive here. I love the USA, so I'm not trying to put it down, but retirement here kind of sucks on the inflation scale we're on. Some countries actually focus more on families than money, although you still will need money to survive. Of course, you will have to speak another language and the governments will be different, so I would do some research first. |

try starting a home based business. But do your homework 1st, there are alot of get rich scammers out there that have no scrupples and will just as soon take ur money and screw u in the end. Chk with the SBA(Small Busn Assoc) in ur area, check the demographics to se that it supports ur type of business, ge a feel for what kind you want plan accordingly and then go from there...it may take a little research, but it can pay off |

What are your skills by the way? can they be used to make money from home? like telemarketing, consulting, wholesale supplier, woodworking from garage, ticketing & reservation, data entry, Information bank, data bank management, tutor, print shop from garage, Internet or eBay items to sell, tailor, hairdresser, beautician. Novel writer, computer program writer, kids story writer etc. They all can be done from home. You wanted to spend more time with kids right? |
