1. To answer your question, you can simply go to your bank to purchase a cashier's check, or to the US Post Office to purchase a money order. The safest way to send it is via certified mail, return receipt requested. However, I would personally feel safe with mailing it via US Post Office with delivery confirmation.
2. Now, unless you like going through all that trouble to pay for an eBay purchase, I would simply open a Paypal account and pay that way. It is very convenient, and very safe. However, if you do open a Paypal account, never respond to any e-mails sent by Paypal. Instead, if you receive an e-mail from Paypal, go directly to the paypal site and collect the message there, to be sure that you are not getting a fake e-mail purporting to be from Paypal (phishing). |

You can use paypal or if you're talking about a large amount i would wire the money if the seller doesnt mind providing you with the wiring information. |

I've sent money orders through the mail before on an eBay purchase. When you mail the money order, also get whats called Delivery Confirmation from the Post Office. I think it's .50 cents extra. Then you can check on line to make sure the money order was delivered to the correct address.
Plan "B". Send it Certified Mail so he has to sign for the money order. You will get back the green card that he signed showing proof it was received.
When the money order has been received by the seller, he will mail your item that you won. |

Keep your money order stub, by that you can trace wether the person cashed it and where, but the safest way is through pay pal since you dont have the buyer protection when paying with MO/cashiers check and it would be harder if your dealing with a corrupt seller. As allways check feedbackof the person you are dealing with |

i always use pay pal they are guaranteed and its safe, i used ebay on almost all my christmas shopping, and i buy all my girl scouting supplies on there also, or you can use a cashiers check but check with your bank on questions you have about security. |

Ah I hate when sellers won't take paypal, which I am assuming is the case. If they will do that, much more secure. If go get a money order, generally they will have then at those check cashing places for a good rate. Send certified mail (where they have to sign proving received). If the seller has bad feedback, then don't, but generally this goes ok. Should they not send it, file with eBay for non-receipt of item you paid for, and keep all receipts. Good luck! |

You can buy a money order from your local Post Office. Just go up and ask for a money order. After that you fill it out and tear off your receipt and...there you are. If the money order was lost you can just return the receipt and get your money back. |
