here are some great website for savings!
www.naughtycodes.com this site give you discount codes for shopping at almost every store you can think of.
www.titletrader.com this site lets you trade movies with others, that way you can trade movies that you dont watch anymore for those that you will!
www.bizrate.com and www.mycoupons.com.
Also, i buy summer crap in the fall and winter stuff in the spring when its all on clearance - you get the best deals. AND i pick things up all year round for Christmas and birthday gifts, that way i get them on sale and it looks like i have spent more - plus i am always prepared then! I have a big rubbermaid bin that has all kinds of great gifts in it - some girls some boys and some that i could use for a housewarming gift in a pinch. I buy picture frames when they are on way, way, way cheap sales. I also only buy cards from a discount card shop. They are .49 instead of over $2.00 and i stock up twice a year for every occasion, again, that way i am prepared for anything! |

Make sure you shop around when you're buyng things like insurance, the quotes for my latest car insurance varied hundreds, very nearly thousands of pounds. Buy in bulk where you can. Look for money off coupons and watch out for certain "Buy X amount for £X" sometimes you can spend a lot and only save pennies, look for the real good deals instead. Cut out non essential costs and use any spare money to pay off credits cards, overdrafts etc leaving you better off in the long run. For gifts try something personal rather than something flashy. For my best frends 21st last month I bought her a toy sheep and a little ornamental tent which was something personal to us but not very expensive. Or fill a shoe box with lots of little fun gifts rather than one big expensive one. Hope atleast something here helped! |

Assuming you have a checking account: have your paycheck deposited in to your checking account by direct deposit, if possible. It isn't necessary to do this for the next step, but there is a method to my madness. Go to your bank (or do it online if you can) and open either a savings account or, better yet, a money market account (pays much more interest). Once that account is opened, set up a recurring transfer from your checking account to your savings (or money market) account. Set it up to do this every month, or like I do, every two weeks after my paycheck is direct deposited to my checking account. (Direct deposit means that your paycheck is sent to your bank and deposited in to your checking account instead of being sent to you.) A good number would be 10% of your take-home pay (I don't know your finances so you might need to adjust the percentage to suit your situation but more is better). The point to this is to set this up so it happens automatically before you get your money and, more importantly, to prevent you from forgetting to do this yourself. And looking to the future, invest in a 401(k) retirement account if it's available where you work (at least 10% of your gross pay). If a 401(k) isn't available, open a Roth IRA retirement account at either your bank or at one of the online institutions. A 401(k) is set up to be funded automatically out of each paycheck. A Roth IRA is not. You can set up this account to be funded automatically by setting up recurring transfers from you checking account. Again, the point is to set this up to happen automatically. The younger you start these accounts (you can have both) the more money you'll have at retirement. I waited too long to do this for myself. Don't make the same mistake. |

Have a clear understanding of the difference between a "want" and a "need." For example, you need to drink a certain amount of fluids per day in order to stay healthy, but you want a Starbucks! You need a roof over your head, but you want an apartment that impresses other people. You need to look professional at work, but you want a new pair of shoes for the weekend. You get the idea. Once you are brutally honest about your spending habits, you should find that there is more money in your budget than you think. You must also ignore the spending patterns of your friends who may have (a) family money, (b) better paying jobs or (c) terrible insomnia caused by being up to their eyeballs in debt. |

Don't spend so much. Buy store or generic brands that will do just as good of a job if they are cheaper in price. Buy on sale, and keep the number of items you don't need low. But non-perishables in bulk at sale prices.
Avoid spending your food dollars on eating out or delivery whenever possible. |

1.First pay off all credit card!!!!!!!!!!!!
2.Do not use one unless you can pay it off that month
3. Pay an extra principal payment on your house if you can
4. Before you shop make a list
5. Ask yourself "do I really need this"?
#1 will give you "now cash" #3 will pay your house off in half the time. |

First start tracking where your money is going. Create a spreadsheet to show your income and all your expenses. Income is your paycheck and any other source of income. Get your expenses from your checkbook register, but also start keeping a record of all the things you pay cash for--I keep a small notebook in my shirt pocket to write down amounts and what I spent it on.
Once you know where the money is going, you can make a decision as to what categories to cut back on (is it a necessity or a "nice to have"?).
Once you've started cutting back on things, put that amount into a savings account immediately after getting your paycheck. You want to get your savings account up to an amount equal to two or three paychecks (the more the better) in case you get layed-off.
The link below shows a simple budget spreadsheet. Fancier ones can be purchased online that used Excel spreadsheet software. |

first you have to find where your money goes -- you will say you all ready know but do your really -- for one month keep track of every penny you spend -- you will be shocked at some of the ways you waste money -- remember a penny saved is a penny earned!!! example say you run out of the house every morning and stop at the nearest 7-11 to buy a cup of coffee to drink on the way to work -- it costs 87 cents -- how much would the same coffee cost if you had made it at home!!! |

The best and easiest way to save is not to spend. Ask yourself:
- do I need it?
- can I repair it?
- can I do without it?
- can I get it cheaper?
- can I borrow it?
And as the book "Money or Your Life" puts it figure out how many hours you need to work to pay for it and then decide if it is worth it to you. |

You do not say if you are working or your situation .
If you cannot make more money by extra work then cutting back is the only other option .
My rule of thumb is everything i do buy i stop and think do i need it or just want it .
If you have a regular pay shopping monthly buying in bilk the main shopping saves a bit .
Check out the best bank for fees and only take money out
once a week so you are not getting all those extra charges .
Look after what you have so you are not buying more .Swop cloths and other items barter if i mind your kids I get a sack of carrots so to speak .
Turn switches of wear an extra jumper before putting the fire on saves on bills .Stop doing mobile phone tex messages when you can have one call and talk for a while .
Cook no take away .
Thats just a few ideas ..Home made gifts .

the moment that you receive your pay..set aside the amount that you want to save...for example you got 100..before you are going to spend a single penny on that 100, take the 40, then spend the 60 for your needs...so, that you wont be tempted to spend everything that you got..then open a bank account, in that way, you wont really be tempted to spend your savings...happy saving |

You can open up a fixed deposit account and pop some money in there every month. Because you have to give 30 days notice to draw the saved money out it should curb the urge to draw it and spend it. Added bonus by the time 30 days is up your salary is in so any thoughts of drawing the money out will go out the window and you will be popping money into it again instead. Or you can go to www.suzeorman.com shes got some good advice. |
