buy gold, the dollar is weak and gold is going to sky-rocket in value. so you will be spending your money on something you'll get more money out of. have fun |

maybe you could go away to college when your 18 and live in the dorms.. you could take out loans to do it, then once you're out of school you can find a nice job and start paying them back |

No easy answer here. The reality is you will have to work and save.Good luck. |

Set up a savings account. Then every time you get money put half of it into the savings account. |

Yes, you can move out when you're 18.
Here's what you can do to start saving money. Go down to the bank (whatever one you use currently) and talk to your banker about setting up a savings account. Let them kno what you want to use the money for. They will have different 'plans' you can choose from. Maybe you should try some kind of account where the bank wont give you the money until you are 18. That way you can't spend it even when you want to. I don't kno what kind of job you have or what you make, but sit down and figure out how much money per week you need (enough for gas, food, and such) then put the rest in savings. Even if you only put in $20 a week, in a year that will be over $1000!
Saving is hard, but you have to stick to it if you want to be able to have the money to move. Good luck! |

Get a job, make money, put a lock on your bank account so you can only use the money every so often. Also, put limits on how much you can spend, Ex: 50$ a week. You can do that. Just go talk to your bank. |

Don't spend it. I understand you have some expenses so allow yourself an amount that you can use on them and you should save the rest in an high yield savings account. They usually have a minimum deposit of 1000 dollars but if you save it will be worth it especially if you look around and find the bank with the best interest rate so your money will be growing until you need it when you're 18. This will also give you incentive to put more in. The more you put in, the more you take out later.
I wish I listened to myself more often lol :0 |

You have to start thinking S-M-A-R-T. What kind of cutbacks can you make? For example: I drink bottled water. Now at $1 a bottle on something that covers over 65% of our planet is not smart. So I bought one of those water filters that screw into your faucet. I have bottles that I refil over and over again. I take them to work. Do you have a lot of small appliances around that house that are always on? I cut my electronic bill almost in half by unplugging all the clock radios and night lights. I also bought some of those florescent bulbs that look a lot like a regular bulb. These things use 80% less electricity than regular bulbs. You would be surprised, but these small things add up. I know I was spending money on the water filter and energy efficient bulbs but these things will pay for themselves in a month providing they pertain to you. If you really need the money right away start cutting back on your food costs. Romain noodles cost a dime and they taste just as good as campbells chicken noodle that costs $130 a can. Ok no chicken in romain noodles, but you are probably just missing about 4 tiny pieces of chicken. Put a brick inside your toilet 'chamber'. You will use a little lesser water each time you flush..Before you know it you will be ahead. Wanna be creative? Find yourself leaving lights on? Buy a motion sensor switch, the lights will turn on when you enter the room and will turn off (by a set amount of time) when you leave the room. I have one, they cost $15 at HomeDepot. Need new windshield wipers for your car? Who says you have to buy 2? You only need the new one on the drivers side, leave the old wiper on the passenger side. So remember you have to start thinking S-M-A-R-T! Yours truly seahorsehawrey. |

You have to decide what is more important, the little things you want today or the big thing you want in the future. Try saving a portion of your money so that you still have some to spend. |

Listen, you can save money, it just takes a lot of will power and determination. A cause if you really need to use that to motivate you would work. I'm personally a saver, in high school I saved over 2,500 dollars for a senior trip to Europe, and that was when I was getting paid less than 200 dollars a week! (I'm not trying to brag, just using this as an example) It took a long time, almost 5 months, but guess what: I did it, and I enjoyed a great senior trip.
If you really want to move out, then you need to start saving. Get a box or something that can hold your money. Now decide how you're going to save. Weekly, monthly? Set an amount and stick to saving that. I would recommend do it weekly if you can, it makes you feel like you're saving more and doing more. Keep a log as well, as the weeks go by, you'll be adding up more and more. If you need to, get 2 forms of ID then go to the bank and open a savings account. Let them know you don't want to be able to access this unless you come into the bank and withdraw.
If you're not telling your parents that your moving out then you might be able to move out when you turn 18 but it really depends on the state you live in. In OH for example, you can legally move out at 18, but some states can range up to 21; I think the highest age I remember was 22 or 23. Why it can range up to those ages to be legally dependent I don't know. Try googling this and do some research. You have to make sure you have all your ducks in a row before moving out, especially if you're not telling them. I did this and it was rather tough, but I did. You need to think about a place to live, a source of transportation (and possible insurance for this if needed), bills, and either a plan for a source of income or a plan for what your future holds, i.e. college, trade school, etc.
If you're telling your parents your moving out, then it wouldn't really be a problem. My partner and I moved in on her 18th birthday to our college home, but her parents knew about that. So it didn't matter that she moved out when she was 18. |

Try looking for local jobs so you can have some income to save. Also, when you are spending, try working with a budget.
Hope this helps!

You make no sense what so ever. If you want to save money, put it into a bank account and leave it there, and don't take any money out. |

Then you cannot live on your own either! If you really want to move out when you are 18, enlist in the Navy. You won't need money |
