Some suggestions:
Buy (Ironic I know) a non-openable piggy bank. Old fashioned style so you'd have to break it to open it. Theres a reason they were made like that. Who would smash their own possession; a nice little piggie just to buy something. Well ok, maybe you. But its still one of the best ways, and you can put notes in.
Nb - remember to keep a record of how much is in there though!
Buy the Laptop now if you can do so on credit, and then set up the payments to come direct debit from your bank account. Obviously you'd have to pay extra for the interest though. On the plus hand you would get it now. And no will power is needed.
Get someone else (someone who cares about you preferably) to save with. Make them ask you for the money in the promise that you'll take them for a meal afterwards.
Nb - You will hate that person by the end of the period.
Set up a direct debit to transfer your money bit by bit every week to an online instant access bank account. They offer great rates so you won't have to save quite as much as the actual laptop price, and DDs are easier to set up than you think! Just ask your bank! Its a bit hassley withdrawing money from an instant access online bank so you'd hope thats enough to stop you taking money out of it prematurely.
You'll notice all the suggestions I've made involve very little will-power. Thats because from the tone of your question I'd guess you can't help yourself from buying things! So my advise is to make it as hard as possible for you to NOT save.

Really force yourself to believe that you have a "bill" to pay every week, or month, and put money aside in your checkbook (if you have one, if not cash in the sock drawer!)
I put 25$ aside every paycheck at least, and factor it in as a bill. It's worked for me! we've saved like 500 dollars so far this year! |

Grocery shop with a list only once a week and cook at home, no fast food. Rent videos and don't go out to the movies. Walk the track at the local school instead of paying for a gym membership. Don't use credit cards for things you want, only buy what you can afford. My daughter can always think of something she has to have from Target or Wal Mart every day, I make a list and go once a week, if I forget something, I put it on the list for next week. Avoid buying things online. |

If you can't control yourself give your money to someone you trust to hold it for you until you have enough to buy your laptop |

okay this is what Idid and I had a really big problem with spending, I opened a savings account and all you need is 100 bucks to open one, anytime I had extra cash, I would immediatley go to the bank and deposit the extra cash into my savings, I don't care if it was 10 bucks or 100 bucks before I knew it in 6 months I had over 1200 in the bank and I also made extra monies on top of that because the bank would put intreset on top of what I had in there so the more money the more interest that i made. |

You need to create a budget. Figure out how much money you earn and how much you need to save each month to get that laptop. Then you put that money aside first and spend the rest of your budget after that. |

Make a budget for yourself. If you save twenty or ten or five dollars every time you get money, you'll have enough. Also, you won't have to stop buying things, you'll just buy less. |
