Tell your neighbors you're available for hire as a helper to do household or yard chores. If you prove yourself to be a hardworker, with a pleasant demeanor, you can expect word of mouth to find more work for you.
Elderly and disabled tend to need the most help, but people who come home from working all day might hire you to do chores for them, just so they can relax.
If you really want to be hired, don't get an attitude about how much money you should be paid per hour. If you create a flier/card it should say you charge "reasonable rates" and when they ask you how much you charge, you tell them they can pay you whatever they think you earned, or whatever they think is fair. That way, you'll get more repeat jobs, and people will be more generous with you, if you do an acceptable job. At your age, when you're cleaning for someone, always ask them to inspect your work, and tell you if you need to do something over. The standards of someone your age might not be the same as the adult who's paying you to clean.
I hire a 13-year-old girl as a helper. She's a very pleasant young companion, and her priority is working for money. She's willing to do any kind of work I ask her to do, cleaning, folding laundry, washing my truck, pulling weeds, scrubbing cabinets, oven cleaning, etc. She realizes that she can't pick and choose what she wants to do, if she wants to be the first-choice to be hired. As long as she continues to be available when I need her, is pleasant, and does a good job, she can count on getting $20 to $40 from me every month.
There are several young girls in my neighborhood who would like to earn extra money. But, I won't hire anyone with a prissy attitude, or anyone who isn't available (twice) to help me when I want help, and am willing to pay for it.
So, if you have a good attitude and work ethic it's quite possible for you to earn $400 in 6 months. |

Since its winter time, (assuming you are in USA) you could ask your neighbours if you can shovel snow off their driveways and sidewalks for $5 per day.
If you can get 10 or 20 regular customers, (ask your neighbours and others in the street) then you would only need 5 or 10 snow days to get $400. If you keep going on with this until the snow melts, you can make a lot more than $400.
It will be hard work, but it will be worth it. |

Do some babysitting, talk to your parents and to odd jobs around the house.
Take bottles to the depot (it adds up!)
Offer to shovel people's driveways (sounds cheesy, but people are lazy, they will pay!)
Depending on where you live, you can hold a garage sale if it's not too cold.
You could sell some things on ebay or just privately. |

babysit... you are not good at it because you believe you are not good at it.. take some of your old crappy clothes to a resale shop... offer to do chores for neighbors like cleaning their windows.. offer to walk people's dogs while they are at work.
if you want it bad enough, you'll figure it out.. |

Call a local wholesale floral shop. You can buy roses for 70 cents each. Wrap them a bit. Sell them for 4 bucks. or 5 is better.
Say your wife wants this when you walk around with flowers in front of office buildings.
Wait did you say 400 in 1 day? or 400 in 6 months.
Email me if you want to do this, I will explain how to get a wholesale account.
Good Luck |

If you don't need it for 6 months, chances are you don't really need it at all. |

babysitting would get you there faster.
You can always mow grass, shovel walks, rake leaves, walk dogs, sell baked goods, put an add in the paper your 13 trying to earn money if there are any jobs someone needed done. Ask your parents, neighbors, grandparents if they have an y odd jobs. |

ask your parents (if they own their own business) if you can help, babysit if you really need the money, ask for donations from friends and family (depending on how much you need it), ask any people around your neighborhood if they need a lawn mower, grocery shopper, etc.
Good luck! |

Wrap gifts for people around the holidays. Offer to bring in the newspaper/feed cats/other animals for people traveling over the holidays. Be extra nice to your relatives during Thanksgiving and Christmas. :) Ask for money instead of actual gifts, tell people who normally buy for you that you'd like money (not giftcards), because you're saving up for well, whatever you're saving up for. Shovel driveways and lawns, as well as offer to clear off people's vehicles of snow. Right now, rake leaves! :) You gotta put yourself out there to your friends/family/neighbors. Tell 'em you'll do odd jobs for 'em, but you're saving up and would like some moolah for it. Ask 'em to spread the word that you're willing to help. |

Rake leaves, shovel snow, plant spring flowers, any other yard work you can think of. If you're good at a particular subject in school, charge for tutoring.
Fall back on babysitting. |
