I am selling my house and the purchaser must meet coop board requirements financially. I am advised that this person is 50 years old and has three forms of income. One is a pension from being a corrections officer, the second income from a second job he works now, and social security is the third source of income.
How could this be at an age under 65... |

If he is disabled, he can receive a form of social security called SSI, and still work a moderate amount. Some pensions reduce their amount if SS is collected, but others do not and pensions are not counted against SS. |

I don't know how it is that he's getting SS now at his age. If he was disabled & unable to work, then he could collect. Since he's still employed, I have no idea. Call your local SS office & ask how that is possible. |

There are different types of SS income-Retirement, Survivor's, Disability & another which is at the tip of my tongue right now, but I can't think of it. Due to his age, it's safe to assume that he has some type of physical or mental disability & has been found permanently disabled by the SSA in order to receive this income. |

May be care giver for a minor with a parent that has died. Could also be for disability, though he shouldn't be working if he's on disability. He might also be married to an older woman, lol. Make sure he explains the circumstances, since the income could be temporary, ie the child turns 19. |

The two ways I know of to receive SS benefits at 50 years old are:
1.) If the person is a Federal Corrections officer and has 20 years in, he/she can receive a supplement until the age of 62 when social security kicks in. This is because of a mandatory retirement age of 57. This supplement is paid by the Federal Employee Retirement System.
2.) if the person is disabled. |
