There are a bunch of great ways to make money at home.
I have been a stay at home mom for 6 years now and I am always earning money. I have done babysitting and ebay. I have done the survey thing and still earn some income from those.
Recently I found a great way to make money blogging. I didn't know anything about computers but I like to write and I really want to help other stay at home mothers. I LOVE being home and I want to do everything possible to help other moms to do the same. I just started a blog about my experiences. After my son was born nearly three years ago, I hunted and hunted for a legit opportunity to make money from home. I ran into a lot of scams online, and just almost gave up, until I found Tupperware. Cliche as it may sound, direct sales is a very real opportunity, and you can get out of it what you put into it. I'm thoroughly in love with my Tupperware business, and as a single mother, I'm making a fairly decent income, and what's better is, I can do almost all of it from home, and my son can come with me everywhere I go.
For anyone interested, I do offer an option to people who want to join to earn their start up kit for free.
Another very viable online business, which would also be determined by the effort you put into it, would be blogging. There are a lot of people out there making decent money through affiliate links placed on their blogs. By providing quality content, you draw in and build a loyal following of readers. Then you can add affiliate links to other peoples' products, and make residual income from the sale of the products that you link to. You can do this for free by starting a blog on Wordpress, and finding affiliate links through a website like Clickbank.
Those are just two ideas for generating an income from home. There are plenty of other ways that people are making it at home.
Good luck in your pursuit! I know how frustrating it was when I went on my own search 2 and a half years ago.

Ok .. whoever tells you that working online is no good and most of the schemes online are scams then he/she didnt do their research very well. the secret to successful home business is to do a thorough research on opportunities available online. try to read articles and blogs of other people on home based business. dont let other people stop you from looking for opportunities online by saying its 100% scams, we are the generation of information and the internet is filled with it. try to see what other people really want, and then based on that you can start your business. |

I looked into this when I was on maternity leave.... there are SO MANY women at home with young children that want to work - but it doesn't seem like there are many positions open for this.
There are some companies that employ people to read/edit documents online... you could work for a media company and help edit their website.
If somebody could come up with a good legit job that new moms could do from home - there is a HUGE demand for this kind of job.
Have you thought about perhaps opening your doors to babysitting or nannying another child? There might be another mom in your neighbourhood that needs childcare for here baby as she goes back to work? Would give your baby a playmate :) |

I am not a stay at home Mom, but I work part time, and I am not willing to work full time as I treasure my time, I do paid surveys at my leisure, usually late at night when I can't sleep or even when I get my lunch hour at work, I try to work around 3-4 hours a day, and the great part is you can work around your own schedule, and not have to punch a time clock or be on somebody elses time schedule, it midnight works for you, midnight it is!! I can usually get in about $20-$30 daily of surveys in a couple of hours, I am registered with a lot of them -ALL FREE, I won't do ones that charge, they usually pay once a month and if you can manage to do $20-30 daily with 3-5 you can make about $600 or better with each one, not bad for a months work. $20 times 30 days equals $600, just look for places you can make a little money each day, and do 3-5 of them, and it adds up to a lot of money each month. Could you set up a place in your home where you could wrap customers gifts for Christmas? Baby sitting, animal sitting. If you have a car you could drive elderly people to stores or their doctors appt.
Do you type? Maybe local businesses could use some typists. Could you take your baby with you and clean some homes? I can't think of anything else. I wish you well =) |

This isn't the fastest way to make money, but it's an easy way that doesn't require you to do anything you normally don't do. I like to use "Swagbucks" which is a google-sponsored web search engine. The nice thing is, if you search with Swagbucks, you can earn points for searching and eventually redeem the points for gift cards, iPods and more stuff.
