Why does a 13 year old need a $400 cell phone? Wow times have changed in a short time,,,,,just keep saving i guess thats my best advise...but be careful if you DO get it, that it doesnt get stolen/broken etc,,, |

How about being practicle instead of materialistic? FYI you can't get a contract with a provider and if you're mother and father are nice enought to provide you with cellular service (that sounds like the case) than take what you're given. Settle for a less exensive phone and be glad you've cellular at all (I know many kids that don't get it till they're in High School 14-16 years old). PEACE! |

If you're too young to work then you are too young for a stinking cell phone especially a 400 dollar one!!!!! |

You can ask your mom to do extra chores around the house and maybe she'll give a little more. That's the only thing I think of.
By the way, what does a 14 year old need a $400 phone for? |

Never spend that much on a cell phone!!
Call you cell company, tell them you are switching companies if they don't upgrade your phone. I get the fanciest phone all the time with that line. |

You can't afford it.
It is not worth spending that much money on a cell phone anyways. Save your money and think that even though you might have a cool phone in a couple of months their will be a better phone that you can't have anyways.
Spend your money on clothes or something else for yourself that is even better. |

Mow lawns? Ask your mom if you can do odd jobs around the house for extra money. |

What does a 13 year old need with a cell phone, let alone a $400 cell phone! If you are too young to babysit or get a job, you are definitely too young to have a $400 cell phone!
This seems like a very good time to learn that you don't always get what you want. Also, there's a big difference between WANT and NEED. |

Is there any way you could do odd jobs for neighbors or your parents to get some extra $???
If not some other ideas:
1. Do you have a Plato's Closet or a consignment shop that would give you $ for clothes that you're not wearing anymore?
2. Try to find a way to lower the price on the phone you want. Is there a way you (more likely your parents) could renew or lengthen the contract to get a deal on the phone? Or how about looking on Ebay to see if you can find it for cheaper? |

Why do you need a new one? Is your old one still good, or do you just HAVE to have this new one?
I'm in high school, and I don't have a cell phone and don't really need one either, although I could afford to buy three or four.
Trust me, you probably don't need it. Save your hard-gotten money for something else. |

save save save. Ask your mom for an allowance? or try to sell as much stuff as possible at the garage sell. Pick up coins off the ground and save them, do a car wash, lemonade stand, etc. Do a project and show your mom why you should get the money, get your family to give donations, ask your mom if you can do stuff around the house/yard for money, go to your moms work and do jobs with her, sell stuff on ebay, make stuff and sell it, make art and sell it, just have fun with it! |

Well first off, if you still need $150, you could maybe offer to do chores around the house (not washing dishes, dusting, etc.). Chores that you know no one wants to do, or that is very time consuming...
You should also check out http://www.wirefly.com there might be some good offers there. When I bought my first cell I got a really good deal with it. They have options for just phones or phones with a plan. Hope that helps! ... You could also make some crafts and sell at your garage sale.. Possibly buy the supplies you need with the money you have, and sell the items for an amount is good, but that will also help you to gain the money you spent and some extra. You should also bake cookies/ have beverages and sell them for 50 cents each or something like that, during your garage sale, this will help you out too! Maybe you could also make a small collection of good recipies from your grandma/mom and other friends/relatives. Make many copies and sell them as recipies in a box.. or bind them together and sell them. You could also have a raffle... for a special item. The money for the tickets adds up! :)
Have you thought about how you are going to pay for the service afterwards?
Good luck! :D |

try getting a cheaper phone because remember u still have to pay the bills and its probably going to be really high so i would get a $250 phone or less because their are phones out there that are just really high priced and you could probably get a really nice phone for $250 and still have enough 2 pay the bills, hope this helps! :-) |
