tuff question...at 13 I was helping around the house...maybe your mom will give you an allowance for washing all the clothes or cleaning the car?..if not try exploiting your natural gifts...lets say you like to read..then write a reveiw of the best books for girls your age,and see if the local news paper or tee vee will cover your story ...that would bring advertizers to you..think big!! you could be the next Oprah |

You should go around your neighborhood and tell people you'll mow their lawns or in the fall rake their lawns for a certain amount of money. You can't really get that good of a job at 13 but you can def doing things around your town for people =) good luck |

I started working at the age of 11 (back in the 60's).
I mowed lawns, babysat, worked in orchards etc.
Now days there are many elderly people who can pay small amounts to young people to help them with things around the house.
Go to neighbors & let them know you are looking for honest work for honest pay & they will know what you mean.
Offer to wash windows, do laundry, walk dogs, sweep or mop, vacuum floors, etc.
My son did these things 10 years ago for a man who was handicapped & made a few bucks for each chore he completed.

You sound like my little brother! Try raking leaves for neighbors when fall comes, mow lawns, shovel in the winter, babysitting. There's many things that kids can do. When I was 13 I had a paper route and I babysat. Check with your local community center, most offer baby-sitting classes that present you with a certificate at the end of the class. That helps when looking for a baby-sitting job. Easiest way is to check with families with younger kids in your neighborhood, that's how I got started. |
