Get a joint savings or checking account with debit cards, then you can put money in at any time, even electronically. The money would be available instantly with no waiting and no service charge.
You could also get a joint credit card, but keep the limit low (or else). |

SOLUTION #1 Do a bank to bank transfer
Call up your daughter in Virginia and ask her what bank she has and what her account number she has? With this information, you can go to your bank and do a money transfer. I did mine with
WAMU and they didn't charge me when i transfered money
SOLUTION #2 You can get a disposible credit card from AMEX or such---available at VONS
You basically fill the disposable credit card up with money and you send it right over to your daughter
SOLUTION #3 You can just send your daughter a check written to her---she doesn't need a checking account provided that she goes to the bank on your check and that she has a STATE ID
If it's in a hurry just send it FED-EX (oh that's true you don't want the extra charge...but hey over the mail shouldn't take more then 2-3days |

The best to do is for your daugther to open a savings account and you deposit in that account. She can claim the money from any electronic cashier worldwide. |

Do the money transfer via your bank. Paypal can take a couple of days, and they take a cut. |

Typical non-intra bank wire transfers take about a week to clear including paypal. I would suggest that for now you send her a check via First Class Mail and have her cash it out. For future transactions, I would suggest that she opens an account with the same bank that you deal with. This is the fastest way to transfer money I have ever known. Hopes this helps. |

if you go to www.paypal.com and sign up for an account, you can send her money that way and all you have to do is input her email address as the recipient. if she doesnt already have paypal, it will send her an email telling her someone has sent her money that she can receive if she signs up. hope this helps.
ps - there is no charge for paypal. |

It's the time here that sucks. You post this on Labor Day weekend. If it was a non-holiday period, I'd say just FedEx her a cashiers check.
The PayPal suggestion may work. I've never really tried it for a rush transaction.
I'd say if you need to get the money in her hand within 24 hours, go ahead and suck up the Western Union charges. If it's a few days, mail her a check.
In the future, the suggestion about opening a joint account with her and where you both have ATM cards would be the ideal suggestion. You could go into a branch and deposit the money and she could withdraw it later that day where she lives. |
