How can i get my money back from lagos, nigeria?
i ordered a phone in ikeja, lagos, nigeria friday. i paid the exact amount including shipping and handling. he said i will receive the phone by tuesday. the next day after he got my payment he told me i will pay $180 later reduced to$100 for custom charges. i want my money back but he said nigeria federal law doesn't allow them to send money to other countries. so how can i get my money back or what will i do to get my item? i don't trust sending $100 more and end up adding and adding money without getting anything. what will i do? thanks.....

Doing the Right Thing
sorry dude, you got scammed and there's nothing you can do about it. Frankly, I don't know why you would buy a phone in Nigeria. So don't send any more money and curse the heck out of that guy who scammed you.

Did you know that most of Nigeria's business is mostly related to scams and fraud?

Don't pay him another dime. Write the loss off as a lesson learned.

"If it sounds too good to be true, it is"

You have been shafted.

lookingformore
you don't. he scammed you. if he was a real businessman he would send you what you ordered so that you will order from him again.
you will never get your money back. he might even call you to get you to send money. do not do it!!

Mexico4me
It definately sounds like a scam to me. I would contact Nigerian customs and ask them what the charge is for this phone. Then get back to the clown that you ordered it from and tell him what you learned about that. You can contact the Nigerian federal government to find out about this "so called" law that doesn't allow them to send money to other countries as well.
You may have to chalk it up to a lesson well learned if you don't get anywhere.

without doing more research i'd say you're out what u paid. AND FOR GOODNESS SAKES DON'T GIVE MORE MONEY YET!.

if the company is actually legit, make them send u the phone first! any company has the ability to recover their money somewhat more that u do.

so i'd say tell them to send first the product, then you will send the final payment.

or walk away. sounds like they won't give u the money back, and i think they are ghosts

You were scammed. I would immediately contact any bank or credit card company if you gave them account information, and have your account numbers changed and your account put on a watch for the next 60 days.
Did you provide them any other personal information like social, date of birth, etc? If so you need to contact the three credit bureaus and have them "lock" your file so no accounts can be opened without direct verification from you.
Go to FTC.gov for additional consumer info.

jackson
This is a joke right? I don't think even Nigerians would order a phone from there.

contact the embasy in nigeria and tell them that you are being scam and they are not returning payment to you at your request, get bank records and anything you can think of, the add where you saw the phone and the payments they were asking for when you first place the order, put a report of fraud to there law enforcemnt, and contact some lawers from nigeria and also contact some lawers from where you live and get the best sollution to get your money back,

nigeria is famous for internet scams (do a search for it nigerian email scams). dont send any more cash, as for the cash you sent-there isnt really anything you can do but chalk it up as a lesson learned the hard way. sorry buddy.

mldesigns
A lot of countries doesn't do refund. It's only some developing countries that do.
your best is not to send any more money and to contact the Nigerian Embassy in New york and ask to speak to the person that handles tourism and Commerce and let them know how upset you are and you plan on contacting several airlines to let them know how about the scams going on.
Also the FCC and lodge a complaint.
That is your best bet.
