Majority have inherited their wealth by nepotism & have been spoiled. Money can buy happiness if used correctly in right manners = where someone sets goals & achieves them. Since they do not get to set goals but are given everything they own they've turned to sour milk and rotted that area of the brain being the goal setting area. Money can play a healthy part of a system of our goal setting & achievements for ourselves if we are not spoiled rotten !

Studies have shown that if you are extremelly poor or living on poverty wages, then an increase in income will indeed make you happier. This happiness increase rises steadily with your income until you are making around the average wage.
But once you are right around a middle class salary (I can't remember the exact figures, but they're pretty low), then increases in income--even significant ones--don't add very much at all to a person's happiness level. |

Because money cain't buy health and love if you don't have any of those than what do you want so much money for if you cain't share it with someone or pay to get healthy if u have life threatening condition! |

None of us expect any increase in finance to make a proportional increase in happiness, but this phrase only really applies when you're talking about people living on comfortable wages. No, getting £1million is probably not going to make them significantly happier as a person, because it will in no way affect their personal relationships, our self esteem and other things that impact our frame of mind.
But a real lack of money DOES make you unhappy. Of course a little extra, to get them to a comfort level, is going to make a massive difference to their state of mind and stress levels. People who use phrases like "it's only money", "I'm not bothered about money" and "Money doesn't make you happy" have obviously never been in this situation. Having out of control debts and worrying about bailiffs, payment defaults and actually not being able to pay your rent or buy food is real unhappiness, and in those cases, money IS the only solution their misery. |

People's desires are generally insatiable... giving to a good cause tends to make people feel better, though. I don't think you'd qualify. |

You need to read some of the stories of people who instantly became millionaires from lotteries. Their lives become horrible. If you have a lot of money, people come around and are "your best friend" but they are just trying to get some bonus $$$. If money bought happiness, Brittany Spears would not be in rehab, just to give 1 example. You may be able to buy whatever you want...but happiness is not an item that is buyable. You make your own happiness. |

I do not know why people say that. I thought it was POOR people that say that. Either way, it is just not true. Money can buy you whatever you need, it can actually buy your LIFE. If you need a heart transplant, or other organ, if you have money you get it, if not, you die waiting for your insurance company to finish arguing abut it. More money, more better!! |
