baybay | How do I get out of this mess!!! Help someone!!!!???? |
I have a decent income but am swamped with debt that I can't handle. I need a fresh start, but am unable to acquire a loan because of poor credit. The problem is mounting and I do not want to file bankruptcy. If I can get a personal loan of say $20,000 then I would be on my way to financial freedom.Tell me what do I do or where do I turn to for help? I need immediate relief! Help someone!!!Thank you!! |

Getting a loan is not going to help you get to financial freedom. It is just changing the name of the person who holds your debt.
The road to financial freedom is figuring out how you got in debt in the first place and then working to never get there again. You work and spend less than you make and you save. However, getting a loan to pay off other loans is how many people end up staying perpetually in debt.
I would recommend that you start researching personal finance. Go to the library or book store and find books about it. Avoid the 'Get Rich' books. Go for the stuff that works on personal finance and budgets and saving and careful investing. I suggest starting with the "Personal Finance for Dummies". It is fairly comprehensive and from there you can move to other books and get more information. Also, don't forget the web and its gigantic selection of sites that can help you. Here is one that I read articles from all of the time.

There are thousands of articles in there. There are quite a few that deal with the situation that you are in now. |

Been there, done that, gone out of that....
Ever heard the saying - you can't solve a problem with another problem?
What you should do is NOT TO GET ANOTHER LOAN....
Prioritize, and stick out with your monthly income. Budget for your daily needs, then what's left, you divide as partial payment on your debts. If you have a credit card - cut it and tell the credit company that you want to close your account with them.
It would be easier if you had a notebook, write down your debts, prioritize according to urgency (all of them may look very urgent but some of them, you may talk to), prepare promissory notes with target payment dates for each debt.
As time passes by, and as you slowly pay off your creditors - place a tick on them, date and how much you've paid, your balance, until you've fully paid them off.
Hope that i've been of help to you. Good luck!!! |

Listen to Ey and A. Mercer they have good advice. The problem with debt consolidation agencies and some credit counseling agencies is that when they talk to your creditors it actually lowers your FICO score. Since you shouldn't be borrowing money any time soon, this isn't a big deal.
However, here are some tips in addition to budgeting etc.
1 keep a record of how much you owe and to whom, update it each month. This will help you see if your balances are coming down and by how much.
2 if you have high interest debt - switch it to a lower interest debt - many credit cards offer lower rates if you transfer the balance. Beware of fees and for how long the new rate applies.
3 pay your bills on time - again if you owe on credit cards they will penalize you for late payments
4 sell anything you don't need. have a garage sale or go on eBay. Depending on how much stuff you have you may raise a lot of money, but even if you don't any little bit helps.
5 cut your expenses - do you really need cable TV? or that expensive cell phone plan? Take a hard look at where you are spending you money.
good luck. |

It sounds like you need to contact a service for debt consolidation. Just watch the interest rates and shop for the most reputable company. |

Consider a debt consolidation company like CCCS or Genus. They will contact your creditors for you and negiogate to lower your interest rate and payments....The plan will take about 5 years to complete and pay everything off....In the meantime, your credit will improve. |

4 things you can do:
1. Increase income
2. Reduce expenses
3. Increase Return of Investment (ROI) in your investment
4. Create multiple streams of income
Some ideas to earn extra money:
1. Tutoring students
2. Using skills you have
3. MLM businesses
Personally, I find that an internet business is an easy way to create a passive income because:
1. Requires small to zero capital
2. Gets started right away and easily
3. Allows you to work from home or anywhere in the world as long as there is an internet connection
4. Has unlimited potential to earn money
5. No age or education requirements
6. Doesn't need you to have to have a company
What you need to do is to learn about the internet business as much as possible to discover whether it is for you and what your strategy is. There is free information around.
Good luck. |

I would suggest that you go to a credit counseling agency and/or a debt consolidation agency. They can consolidate your debts into a monthly payment that you can afford and keep you out of bankruptcy. It is,however, important that you choose a reputable one. They are supposed to be a non-profit organization. |

You don't need a loan, that doesn't solve your problem, it just changes it. You need to get out of spend mode and into pay off mode. Call all credit card companies, tell them you will default if they don't lower your interest rate. Tell them you need their help. Call back if they turn you down, which they probably won't do. Don't add ANYTHING to the cards. Systematically get rid of every bit of the debt. Get a part time job. Don't waste any money, get rid of unnecessary monthly expenses like add-on cable tv stations, add-on cell phone options, magazine subscriptions. Don't go out to eat, it's VERY expensive. Don't waste anything! Live poor and get rid of this. 20k is fixable, but you have to make changes. |

I guess I have trouble figuring out how taking on more debt will solve your problem. I suggest you contact one of these debt consolidation companies. |
