Make sure it's at a bank that has inconvenient hours and is far away from your daily routine, mine is at a credit union on the other side of town and I have direct deposit so I never have to go there and my checking is at a totally different bank so I can't take out any $$ unless I'm really desperate |

YOu need to make it difficult for you to get to. If you have a debit card for it, cut it up or leave it at home. That alone would keep me from mine. |

Its called self control. You don't touch it thats all. If you have a problem where you keep trying to go to it, make it more difficult to get to the money. Invest it in some mutual funds that take a day or two for you to get the money. |

Switch your savings to a passbook or money market where you do actually have to enter a bank to access it. Statement savings accounts have access via the web or ATM cards.
If it's not at your fingertips, you will be less likely to think about it, or use it. |

I put mine in a separate bank from my checking account, and did not get a card for it. I made sure i went out of my way to put some in every week, but did not take any out.
Also you should look at what your spending your money on, do you need to get into your savings to survive if so maybe you need to find a way to cut expenses some place. |

Forget that you have it. Try to live life with money on hand, don't overspend that way you won't need to get money out of your savings to cover. |

You need a budget. Are you spending over your means on extravagant items or are you not making enough salary to cover your living expenses. In any case, you need to create a budget that establishes the ground rules for your financial distributions. |

open a 6 or 9 month cd that rolls over..
use an online savings account like ing. it takes a few days for the money to transfer back to your main bank which can help you from impulse buys.
