There are several ways to monetize a website. The type you are talking about is popular and takes a lot of effort to build a significant income. An example would be as follows. Say that you are familiar with fishing and you want to build a website around that theme. You need to focus on building quality content that is relative to fishing. i.e. tips and advice. Building quality content is what makes a site search engine friendly and it also drives the traffic. You can then sign up with google adsense or equivalent and post adds on your site. Each time someone clicks you are paid a set amount. I have a informational site in health and wellness that does just that.

To name a few you can start working as an affiliate marketeer and sell other people's product online using google adwords or any other PPC. thats through affiliates and ads placed on someones site.. it works but its very slow and u have to wait for months together to actually start making any significant money..
if you are looking for something ethical and interesting as well, i must tell you, long term steady income require some patience and dedication.. fast and easy money are mostly scams..they ask for upfront payment and guarantee that you'll cover it in days.. but then they disappear..

ChaCha is a really easy way to make money. All you have to do is google answers for questions they give you. I make $8-10 an hour.
It's much much less stressful than having a normal job, you work anytime you want to, from your home and it's really easy to do. My suggestion is that you try to answer 50 questions a day at least. If you do this you will most likely get paid $0.20 per question the next week.

There are a lot of different ways that this can work:
The first is by setting up a page or a blog that has advertising on it. Google Adsense and Yahoo Ads are two ways you can get involved in something like this.
The other way is through pay-to-click programs. These will pay you for viewing ads on other sites (basically someone else is making money by posting ads and giving you a cut for looking at the ads) There are a lot of versions of this- pages that pay you to use their search engine, social network sites that pay you to spend time on their site, etc.
Don't ever pay someone else to join anything like this- that is usually sign of a scam.
There are a lot of other ways to make money online, too- things like selling something online or entering contests. |

The easiest way to consistently make money is by launching your
own blog using Google's free "Blogger," and using that to
create a "niche" site that'll bring in adsense revenue.
Here's the basic blueprint:
1. Select a "niche" that you know about and one you think
will interest people. Then type "how to find a website
niche" into the Google search box and research how to do
this successfully (don't just automatically assume people
will be interested in your topic).
2. After you build your blog (it's so easy a first grader
can do it), create 5 articles using 2-3 keywords from your
niche (once again, type "how to find profitable keywords"
into the Google search box and educate yourself on how
to choose profitable keywords that don't have much
competition. Then launch your blog by submitting your url
to Google and Yahoo's directory.
A good indication that you have a profitable keyword is
if it gets at least 20-30 searches a day using the free
Wordtracker Tool, and it gets 1,000-10,000 results when
you do a search for it in the Google search box by putting
the keyword in quotation marks, i.e., "toddler beds"
3. Create a google adsense account and put adsense ads on
your blog.
4. Write an original article for each of the keywords and
submit it to Ezinearticles.com (after creating a free
account), and watch your pages climb up the page ranks
within 2-3 months, and the adsense money will start to roll
in.
This basic information merely scratches the surface, but
it's enough to get you started. The advantage of making
money this way is you're working for yourself, and you
control exactly how much money you can make (the
possibilities are endless). This is how I make a nice
part-time income (about 1,000 a month) and I only do it
with 6 blogs! |

You can join PTC (paid to click) websites. Basically, you get paid to look at an advertiser's website. The link below is the best one that i personally know of because they charge the advertisers loads to list their ads there which means they can give users of the site lots more money per click.
There's usually more than 130 ads to click PER DAY, and each one of those is worth between $1-$5 per click. They payout when you reach $5000 (considering you usually get through enough clicks in one day to make about $120-$160, it doesn't take too long).
