It depends... give us more information. Do you have regular income? How much money do you owe? Are you making any payments? Are you still borrowing? There are a lot of factors that could help people give you advice. Here are some basic guidelines:
Stop borrowing more money. This means close a few of your credit cards or stop buying things until you have less debt.
Get a job if you don't have one, or get an extra job to help pay the bills (an extra job like waitressing or working at a coffee shop is only temporary! You can quit when you've got less debt.)
Make regular payments, even if they are small payments. Pay a little bit above the minimum required, even if it's just a few dollars each month.
Make sure you pay yourself a little bit each month (a savings account), so that you have emergency money set aside if you lose your job.
Ask a friend to help you look at your finances and figure out how to budget, stop spending on things you don't need, and how to pay things off faster.
Pay off accounts with the highest interest rates first so that if you have debt it won't get bigger than it has to.
Sell things you don't need (if you have an old CD player or computer, things like that).
Ask a friend to "keep you accountable," to ask you how you're doing once a month, and if you need help staying on track.
Stay positive. Debt can really strain your emotions. You may get mad at yourself or other people, but try to work hard and you can do it! Just be persistent. In the end, paying off your debt will be a great reward because you will feel very relieved and free. |

1. determine what circumstance that led you into debt and identify ways to prevent or at least manage its reoccurrance.
2. develop a workable payment plan that will not constitute too much strain on your lifestyle
3.identify expenses to be forfeited inorder to finance the debt repayment plan
4.agree payment plan with your creditors
5. stick to the payment plan |

Well that is according to how much you owe and to whom you owe it to. Usually setting up a payment plan and living on a budget works. Talking to your creditors is always the first step. People can't help you out of your situation if they don't know the situation you are in. But you have to also stick to a plan. Don't promise to pay and then give excuses when it comes time to do so. |
