3) Charging customers for various banking services. Some accounts also incur a monthly or quarterly or yearly charge.

In a nutshell
a)Go to a bank.
b) Ask them how much interest you can get on your savings account.
c) Then ask them how much interest they need for a loan.
d) along with fees for their basic acct keeping services they do well. |

They make the most of their money from credit cards. The annual interest is 24% (on you) and for the banks, it's a risk-free and almost-guaranteed return, unless you declare bankruptcy of course. |

for the most part, they loan out a portion of bank customer's money to other people at high interest rates, it doesn't affect ur actual money, but it allows them to have money to loan to people who need it. Typically, the money in ur savings account earns u interest at far less than what they loan it out for.
they also assess fees on some services
they collect fines for overdraft and NSF charges.
some of them even just flat out charge membership fees. |

Such a simple question
not so simple to answer -- for banks make money in dozens of ways -- the most common is by using everyone else's money to do loans at far higher percentages of interest than what they pay the customer who's money they are using !!
Then there are money markets -- trust fund investments -- exchange rate shuffles --- commercial investments -- "deal" brokering --- ect ect ect --- there are people IN the banking business that do not know the scope of the entire picture OF the banking game !!! |
