Find out 1% - i.e. knock of two zeros from the end (or move decimal point if not easy number). and then multiply by three. Surely easiest |

.03*1000 |

Well 3% of 100 is obviously 3. Therefore 3% of 1000 must be 30.
Another cool way is to use Google. Just search for "3% of 1000"
Google will work as a calculator and diplay the answer. |

£1000 is 100%
divide by ten and you get 10%, which is effectively lobbing a 0 off the end.
£100 divided into ten chunks = £10, that's 1%, or effectively removing two zero's from your starting figure.
3% is three times this, therefore £30. |

Sandra

move 2 decimal points back and times by 3 = 30 |

Move the decimal point two places to the left and multiply the result by 3.
"Percent" means "per hundred". So 1 percent of 1000 is 10. Multiply that by 3 and you have 30, or 3% of 1000. |

dukalink6000

10% would be 100, so 3% would be 30 |

To find 1% of anything divide by 100 as 100% is the whole thing.
Once you have a figure for 1% of anything you can multiply that by the percentage you need.
i.e. 1000
------- = 10 which is 1%
100
10 x 3 = 30 which is 3% of 1000 |

1000-30=970 |

Take your original figure and divide by 100 (this gives you 1%)
Then multiply by the amount you want - in this case 3!
(If you want to work out an increase e.g. VAT at 17.5 simply multiply by 117.5) |

kwabena o
|
simple.. divide 10 by 3 and add the remaing two zeroes to your result |
