If you have a personal check, along the bottom are two longish numbers. The first is the bank's routing number, the second is your account number. |

All banks have a unique routing number, and it's not always the first set of numbers on a check - that varies by state and by bank (bank vs. credit union, etc.). Aside from calling your bank and asking, try searching for "your bank's name + routing number" at Yahoo or Google - you'll find it. |

Understood. I do a lot of Intetnet banking and bill paying from several different accounts. Each bank has their own unique number. Each account (savings, checking, whatever) needs two numbers for a transaction. The routing number is one, and the acct. number is the other.
If you have a deposit slip (whether it's for your account or just a generic one), or can get one, it's the 9-digit number beginning in the bottom left corner. If you don't have one, call your bank, and request it. |

You don't want to guess at the right number so if you don't know for sure what the routing number is, please call your bank and ask them.
The routing number is a series of unique numbers that identifies your bank. Putting the incorrect number on an automatic deposit or withdrawal authorization will cause your transaction to reject and go into "limbo land" at the federal Reserve for a few days.

It will always be a nine digit number, in the bottom left hand side. Some banks do assign a different R&T or Routing and Transit for wires. A quick (LOL!) call to your bank should verify if this is the case. |
