the easiest and fastest way is to open a new account just in
your name and have your wages directed to that account.
the bureucracy as to how to delete your wife from your old
account depends on the local laws. if there is a considerable
sum on that account, withdraw the money from it immediately
and postpone the fight over how much of that money is for
whom to later times. |

You can not without your wife's signature, open another account and get your employer to pay in to the new account , that is the simplest thing to do, |

You and your wife will need to sign a form that you can get from the bank. Her to say she is coming off the account and you to say that you will be the sole account holder. All overdrafts will be taken off but can be reapplied for in your name only. |

Without her agreement in writing you cannot. Maybe best to get your salary sent to another bank account. Advise payroll department asap as they sometimes set up their BACS payments in advance. Don't forget about any direct debits going to the old account - to have funds available as you may incur charges for returned direct debits, otherwise you will have to inform the companies of new arrangements. You could also ask Payroll Department to pay you by cheque but this will take a little time to clear. |

you will have to close thwe joint account or get her to write a letter and sign a form stating that you can close the joint account, you will then have to open one of your own;
but if you dont want the hassle of that, just open a new account of your own and transfer your wages to it. that way she cannot have access to the account and your money |

Get a new account only in your name and transfer all the money. Change your direct deposit information with your employer. |

You cannot remove a person from a joint account without their permission. There are forms to sign and notarize or have her come to the bank in person. The best thing to do is to just open another account in just your name and change the direct deposit info so that it goes to your new account. Ask the bank how long it will take before your pay starts going into your new account. Sometimes it takes a few weeks. If it does you could go to the bank the day your pay goes in and withdraw it....................so can your wife. So it may turn into a matter of who gets there first. |

This is a joint account so you both will have to be there. But there is a way around this and it is all in the wording. If your account say (John or Marsha Smith) then you may be able to make changes without her. Now if it say )John and Marsha Smith) she will have to be there for the changes.
But you may also want to be careful , will you guys be divorcing? do you have children? trust me if this is the case the judge will have no sympathy for you. They will she you as a cold hearted person that left his family in a bad way. Especially in these economic times. May you guys can come to a agreement of what amount would be fair for her (or her and the children ) so that they can continue to eat, have running water, etc. |

you both need to sign a form at the bank although this can be done at different times you don't have to do it together. then you need to inform all credit ref agencies that you are no longer connected to this person. last thing and this may not apply to you two but a friend of mine ex's set up a load of payments to various charities because he knew the sort code and account number so times it is easier to shut it down and start again, okay so its a little delay and a little bit of paperwork but might be well worth it in the long run.good luck. |
