open an account that limits withdrawals and have the company that pays you automatically put some of your pay into it. Or give it to your parents to save for you |

i am not sure, i've never had that problem, i have always been responsible with my money, even at age 14. i just saved it because it was the smart thing to do,, i guess you just need to get some common sense first. |

Try getting a little of your check direct deposited into a savings account every time you get paid. |

Just open a savings account and treat it like a bill and pay it every month or whenever you get paid. My wife and I have been doing it for 36 years. |

There are lots of tricks that will help you save money without even knowing it. Making sure your money goes directly into a savings account, rounding up your expenses and rounding down your income, and being smart about what to buy and what to recycle are a few things you can do.
It's good that you want to be disciplined about saving money... now is the time to make it happen. It's like exercising, at first it is hard but then it becomes second nature. Good luck! |

Ehh I had this same problem..I have a banking account and I have about $1,000 in it now. I just put in depending on my check half in the account..I can't take any of that money out unless my mom is with me for that reason. I'm glad I do this because now I have money that I can use for college. You can also make an account and tell them that you don't want the money touched until your 18. That might be better. Either way its always good to hold back some money for things that you actually really need later on... |

You have to start thinking S-M-A-R-T. What kind of cutbacks can you make? For example: I drink bottled water. Now at $1 a bottle on something that covers over 65% of our planet is not smart. So I bought one of those water filters that screw into your faucet. I have bottles that I refil over and over again. I take them to work. Do you have a lot of small appliances around that house that are always on? I cut my electronic bill almost in half by unplugging all the clock radios and night lights. I also bought some of those florescent bulbs that look a lot like a regular bulb. These things use 80% less electricity than regular bulbs. You would be surprised, but these small things add up. I know I was spending money on the water filter and energy efficient bulbs but these things will pay for themselves in a month providing they pertain to you. If you really need the money right away start cutting back on your food costs. Romain noodles cost a dime and they taste just as good as campbells chicken noodle that costs $130 a can. Ok no chicken in romain noodles, but you are probably just missing about 4 tiny pieces of chicken. Put a brick inside your toilet 'chamber'. You will use a little lesser water each time you flush..Before you know it you will be ahead. Wanna be creative? Find yourself leaving lights on? Buy a motion sensor switch, the lights will turn on when you enter the room and will turn off (by a set amount of time) when you leave the room. I have one, they cost $15 at HomeDepot. Need new windshield wipers for your car? Who says you have to buy 2? You only need the new one on the drivers side, leave the old wiper on the passenger side. So remember you have to start thinking S-M-A-R-T! Yours truly seahorsehawrey. |

start a budget. yeah sounds totaly lame and boring but hey it helps me
here are some acounts that you can put it in or at least this is how my parents make me do my allouance i get 16 dollars a week for my allouance. not alot but hey i don't have a job and i'm 16 so hey its better then nothin. this is how i split it up
10%tything money to god...thats optional oviously for you. that is about 1.50
10%for savings 1.50 for college or just some stuff when your older
then three dollas for gifts. -just money for friends and family like for birthdays or christmmas or stuff like that
and then the rest is free spending
for you since you like to shop alot i would do a shopping acount
i had a clothing budget with my parents i got 10 dollars toward clothes every weeek along with my ten dollars from free spending so that was awesome. but i don't have taht any more
but one to stop spending it is just autimatically splitting the money when you get it. put half of your pay check into your savings acount. i mean if you do it way before you realize you have it then you'll think of it as just part of your paycheck . you won't be use to seeing a full amount. |

im about you age and i understand what you mean about you just wanna spend your money when you get it. but doesn't everybody. anyways i think that you should talk to your parents or whomever takes care f you about saving your money because you always wanna spend it they will have great things to say if they are understanding. its not easy to save money and money is tight these days so you really wanna save the money that you get Just think if i save this now think of all the money i will have later and i can buy more things and look like a lil rich girl when i take it outta the bank to spend itLill im jk unless u wannaa look like a lil rich girl idk but im just trying to help i hop that i did |

does your employer offer direct deposit? or, maybe you can figure out a routine when you get paid to split your pay in 2 parts, like depositing half in savings and taking the other half in cash. also, save all your coins and change in 1 place and deposit periodically. some banks have coin-counting machines. |

find out how much you have got payed since you started add it up
and see how much you would have had if you would have saved it
it will shock you
I tell myself this
Im goign to need it for the future more than material things at present
just think of yourself with no car no house no bank account
Get a money box and allways put your spare change in it , i did this for about 4 months i had $1200
it all comes down to you wanting it |

Simple.. let yourself being incapable of spending it at all!
When you get your paycheck put it in a plastic bag (make sure it is sealed properly), then put it in a bowl of water. Place it in the freezer to freeze it!
Unless you want to breakthat ice and make a mess.. pretty sure you'll be deterred from spending it. |
