they cannot manage at all, most are building huge debts due to all the hikes in power bills, transport fares and food prices!
Life is miserable, and especially so for mums with kids now that schools out fro the summer. |

Well the ones who do keep on top of their bills probably do so by knowing where every single penny goes, not spending money on luxuries etc. Then there are the others who just don't bother to pay them... |

Living on Benefits is JUST an EXISTENCE ! I call it 'Pauper's Pittance' ! LIFE is going to become even more DIFFICULT with the INCREASES in the COST of LIVING e.g. Gas, Electricity, Food, Diesel & Petrol etc. ALL GOING UP continuously at the MOMENT ! |

they cut back on food and other things clothes etc contrary to all the media speculation being on benefits is hard there are no easy decisions and then they have to put up being labelled scroungers and fraudster by the media most people hate having to survive on state help
but some have no choice to but do so i know people who look after sick and disabled relatives and receive very little help from the state and yet these people save millions for the government and working people in taxes so next you knock the people on benefits sit first think of those who had to leave work to look after the ill and infirm
and if you still think your being ripped off pay more taxes so that the health service will look after the sick and the needy
and people would not have to give up work
and just remember a carer job is 24/7 365 days a year not 9 till 5 with paid holidays |

Well the ones I know seem to manage pretty well! In fact - I often look at them and what they have and think that I would probably be better off not working like them!
Funny old world aint it! |

...by getting paid for not working, getting reduced c/tax, free accomadation, and live basic, by that is not always the way that is for not every one, as i have friends who are genuinely in an unfourtanate postion but if you want nice things you have to work for it.. then then get taxed to death! So sorry for everyone now as times are hard but although there are many legitamate cases for benifit so many are just taking the piss...we all sufer! |

I cut out the little extras in my life...limiting eating out, Starbucks etc. I eat healthier (think long term, less doctor bills) and I find cheap or inexpensive entertainment. Free movie rentals from the public library or free movie code on Mondays from Redbox movie. (Check out their website.)
I've also began couponing and I'm amazed by how much money (and get items for free)I can save with a few coupons and a sales ad.
http://coupons.smartsource.com//index.as...
The above is a great source for printable coupons. Next continue to buy Sunday's paper for another source of manuf. coupons.
Some stores like Walgreens, Rite Aid, Target will take their store coupon and a manuf. coupon.
Know that sometimes you can buy groceries at the above stores.
Get to know your grocery store coupon policies...do they double coupons? Buy groceries on sale with your coupons.
www.mycoupons.com Click on Shopping boards, Click on Tips of the Trade (TOT) you'll find postings from women who spend very little out of pocket for groceries. Scroll down further you'll find a forum on recipes.
Sometimes you can go to the company of a product you want to purchase and see if there are printable coupons on that site.
Other sites you might want to view are:
slickdealz.net
www.fishingfordeals.com
http://www.grocerysavingtips.com
www.afullcup.com (usually you'll find Target coupons on here)
How about joining www.mypoints.com? You can earn "money" by turning in your points onto gift cards. You sign up and receive emails which are worth about 5 pts each.
You could Ebay or sell items on Craig's List. Maybe babysitting, garage sale, recycling |

That might depend on where you live. Here in Ireland, people on benefits
1. qualify for a rent allowance for rented accommodation. They pay a small amount and the rent allowance covers the rest .
2. With limited means they qualify for a medical card, so medical care and prescription medicine is free.
3. Their children don't have to pay exam fees for state exams, and if they live 3 miles or more from school, the school bus is free.
4. There is a scheme to help pay for school uniforms which is available during the summer holidays, in time for back-to-school in September.
5. Free lunch is provided in some schools.
6. During the winter, a sum (fuel allowance) is added to their weekly benefit money to help pay for heating. I think it's about 10 euro.
Other than that, they have to manage like the rest of us - eat what we can afford and budget for phone / electricity / gas etc.
If you stretch your question to include all people on limited means, then old age pensioners have a few further items:
Free public transport
Free phone connection and a certain no. of free calls.
A certain no. of free electrical units. I know several pensioners whose electricity bill is tiny or non-existent.
Free TV licence. That's worth 180 euro or so.
If in poor health, they may also qualify for a home help, someone who comes in on an assessed needs basis to help with care they cannot do easily for themselves.
Ireland takes good care of her old age pensioners. |
