Ok, well you learn these things as you go right. You go to the post office, and ask them for a money order of say $50 bucks.
So the post office takes the $50 bucks and also charges a small fee, and then they give you a money order, which you have to fill out, because it is blank. Its a good idea to fill out the person that it is to be paid to right away, becuase if you lost it, anyone will be able to cash it. Then you mail it. They do not mail it for you.
A bank money order is made out to the person you ask the bank to make it out to.
Don't be afraid to tell the post office clerk you have never gotten a money order before. Just say hey, this is the first time I've ever gotten a money order. Can you show me how to fill it out? Like I said, you learn these things as you go along. It would be too difficult for schools to teach kids stuff like this instead of shakespeare.
Oh and the money order has several parts. The top one that looks like a cheque is the one you send. You keep the back copy which has a code on it so you can trace it if it gets lost.
Oh and by the way, if you are mailing a money order, you should pay a little bit extra to have it mailed with a tracking numer. The post office can help you with this as well. |

Go to a place to buy a money order. I used to use 7-11 or Tom Thumb as they generally only charged a dollar.
They'll hand you a money order which you treat like a check. Just mail it yourself! It's pretty easy, honestly. |

If you buy a postal money order it's pretty self explanatory. One 1/2 is for your info and the other 1/2 is who you are sending it to. They will be the only one who can cash it once it is made out to them. You tear off the top half which is your reciept. You don't need any extra insurance or anything for it. If whoever you sent it to doesn't recieve it and it gets lost in the mail, you take the reciept to the post office and they will track it for you. If it's truly lost and doesn't turn up, they will reimburse you. The only one who can cash it is who you sent it to since they have to show ID to cash it. |

Go to www.usps.com (this is the post office), for official information - just one of many places you can get a money order. Also banks, grocery stores and some UPS Stores.
Most can be purchased with cash or debit card - not credit however. It is similar to giving the bank money and them writing a check for you.
Just go to one of the mentioned places and tell them you want a money order - and for what amount. From there you decide what to do with it. They don't do anything else.
If you decided to purchase one at the post office just come prepared with a self addresses envelope and you can finish up at the same time.
It's painless. |

Usually you'll have to mail the moneyorder itself. Actually, I don't know of any places that mail it for you. You can try the post office to get one, it's cheaper! |

you have to mail it yourself. and fill it out yourself. its kinda like writting a check.
make sure you make a copy of it and keep the "stub" as well for record keeping..(incase they try to screw you and tell you they never received it.) |
