If you paid part of the bill then you should be fine. You need to call the office & let them know when you can have the rest of the payment & go from there. Just hope you're not in a cold climate. |

It's very simple, pay your bill. Unfortunately some people just have to be dealt with like you're experiencing. |

I was told that as long as you pay SOMETHING they cannot turn of your electric and if you have kids i think it is against the law to turn it off. |

Depending on where you live Heat Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) may be available. I know in NY we just got anoth 2,000,000 for this. I am in the process of doing the same thing. Also they have to tell you if what you have paid is enough. They cannot NOT disclose information like that. |

Community Action Commission, your local Church, St Vincent De Paul.......they all offer help.
Best thing to do is pay the bill. If they disconnect, there are some hefty fees to get it back on.
Good luck! |

You can go to the Red Cross for emergency assistance or you can call intergovernmental grants where you live and ask for assistance. |

it depends on what state you reside in, but I know for instance that in the state of wisconsin between the months of september and april a electric company CAN NOT shut off the electric because of the fact that we have a winter. AS long as you pay something on your bill the company will see that you are at least making an effort to pay off the debt that you owe them. |
