Start with the highest amount. If it is Millions, or thousands, or hundreds, tens.
Then work your way Left to right.
Examples:

depends on the amount. $5 dollars would be: Five and no/100-----------------------dollars (dollars is already pre-printed). make sure you draw the line to the word dollars so that the wording can't be easily tampered with. Another example is $36.90: Thirty-six and 90/100---------------------------. Final example - $5525.88:

Just write out the words, if your check is for $20.23 then I always write "Twenty dollars and 23/100" then after writing the amount of cents I put a line. I do that because thats what my mother always did. Hope this helps! |
