Jonny Rose | How does a 14 year old kid make money? |
I need to know how a 14 year old kid living in California can make enough money to at least pay for their phone bill. Additional Details I really don't want to do a paper route. And there are no lawns to mow. My parents won't give me an allowance, and I don't think collecting cans will pay enough in one month to pay for a cell phone bill. Help PLEEEEEASSSSE!!!! |

Baby Sitting, mowing lawns, walking dogs, dog/house sitting for people on vacation. Doing odd jobs for people around their homes, housecleaning. etc...
Good luck, and it is really great to see someone who wants to take responsibility for their bills at your age. |

You could mow lawns, offer to help out around the house long enough that eventually they'll want to pay you, if you're a girl, I'd suggest babysitting too. Oh, and people like getting their driveways pressure washed, so maybe if you have one, you could door to door and ask them. |

Mow lawns. Shovel snow.
I worked in retail when I was 14. You'll probably need a work permit.
One of my friends was raising a beef steer every summer from age 8, and made quite a bit that way. Other friends would raise produce - tomatoes, corn, etc. - every year, and sell it, either at a roadside stand or door-to-door.
You can babysit. If you have the skills, you can repair computers. You can run a paper route.
You know. All those things you don't want to do. That's the thing about work: if it's fun, people want to do it themselves. Nobody hires you to play video games for them. Instead, they do the things they can't do, or don't want to do.
The key is, as a 14-year-old, most of the income opportunities involve self-employment, because of the legal problems involved when you hire a minor. So get yourself a pile of gumption, and have at it. |

Be a jack of all trades. Ask your neighbors if there is anything u can do. Cleaning there garage ,house, dog pop. cars. windows .etc. Collect scrap metal it all adds up at the end. |

I'm skeptical when it comes to paid surveys and 'get paid to complete offer' sites, but honestly many of them are legit and have enabled me to generate a great amount of extra money. On one site, you can find actual photos of checks people have gotten from the site. On my favorite site that I use, the total payment cashout reached six figures ($100,000) for the month of May!! The most important thing is to never get discouraged if you start out slow. Those $1-$5 surveys will add up over time, and doing them from more than one site at a time really increases your income. My first week using three of these survey sites, combined, I made over $60 dollars and never touched a credit card (including the offer completion ones), so they really do pay. Just go to my profile and you will find links to my favorites!
PS: The survey panel thats hard to get onto is Pinecone Research because you have to find a flashing banner and click it to get to the sign up form, but if you can manage that, you get $5 per survey. Anyway try some of those links in my profile. They are free and easy to get started.
P.S. I would recommend that you create an email account just for survey sites. |

A really easy way to make money online is to join GPT sites. GPT sites pay you to take surveys and do free trials. the minimum age requirement for most of these sites is 13 - so that would be perfect for you. I remember when I first starting doing GPT's, I made about $70 within the first hour. (and then I was hooked =P) Here are 2 of my favorites:

Or, just do a search on 'gpt site', and you will come up with a bunch. =) |

babysit, go to a community center and put your name on a job bank. Try to find seniors, they often hire young kids to do yardwork, clean the garage, pack up books if they are moving, raking, planting flowers, sweeping. Walk around your neighbourhood and just tell the seniors who you are and that if they need a hand to call you. Once you earch the trust of one, you'll be in! |

hi there, hunt around the yard sales, secondhand shops etc for bits and pieces to sell and try putting them on ebay. also any designer clothes that you can get over there cheaply , list them on ebay.co.uk rather than ebay.com and you will make a small fortune!!! |

That's real easy. Look around your neighborhood, look at what needs to be done, fences that need mending, doors that need fixing, paint that needs to applied.
Perhaps there's a little corner market that needs a delivery boy, ride your bike to deliver goods to older people that can't get out.
Walk dogs, charge a set fee for an hour of walking while someone is at work.
If you like kids and you are trustworthy, you can babysit, take kids to the park or the playground.
If there is a pool nearby and you are a good swimmer, take some courses and become a lifeguard.
If you live by the ocean, hire on a fishing boat as a helper, it's tough work and dirty as well but you can make some good wages.
If you are talented in any area, utilize it, make some money doing it.
Good luck and I hope I have given you some sound advice. |

When I was too young to work, put flyers into people's mail boxes about mowing the lawn for people. I put a price, like $10 per ellawn, or something like that, and my name and phone number. When I did that, I was surprised at how many people called. It was mostly older people who called and aske me to mow for them. It was a really quick easy way to make money! And since you live in California you can do that for a lot longer than anyone se! |

WANT SOMETHING FUN TO DO FOR $$?
My brother when he was young would have tournaments with video games. In order to play kids had to "donate" $2 each for the day to cover the costs of electricity and "overheating the game". Who ever won the tournament got half the money. My brother kept the rest. He was making like $20 a day doing this.
One way to draw people was to make it sound real exclusive.."ONLY 10 GAMERS ALLOWED PER DAY!" So many people were down in that basement it was ridiculous!! Make some fliers and have a grown up or older sibling regulate things so that people don't lose, get mad & ask for their money back. And dont allow people to run in & out. Mom might not like that. Once in you gotta stay. If you leave you can't come back til tomorrow. I'm not sure if this will work there. I'm from the mid-west. Good luck sweetie. I have a 13 year old son. I'm gonna lay this idea on him as soon as I get home! Have fun! |

Hi! I'm a 42 year old mom and I have two kids in the same position. One is 14 and one is 15. We discovered this cool website called www . wrinsiders . com. It is sponsored by Weekly Readers. The kids answer survey questions and earn points that they redeem for Walmart (or other) gift cards. They each get at least a $10 gift card a week and spend about 10 to 15 minutes per day. Mainly they anwer questions about video games or give opinions about upcoming movies.
It isn't a scam and is reputable and parents won't be bothered by sales sales.

a girl baby sitting or possibly tutoring younger kids if they able to. A boy, should do labor, either for his/her parents or for neighbors. I was making money at 12 years old pushing my dads lawnmower and pulling the edger door to door, asking people if they needed their lawns mowed or cars washed, or anything else done that I was capable of doing. They should both (girl or boy) let their parents know what they are doing, where and a contact number, address, etc. before working for anyone. The parents need to assure their child's safety and the work is ethically right. It seems children these days are very, very, lazy. I offered neighborhood kids jobs mowing my yard, washing my cars, cleaning up, and the girls the opportunities to baby sit my daughter(s). I was dumbfounded to find out most will not work, as it is looked down upon by their friends. If your situation is your child has or wants a cell phone and needs money to pay for it, and none of the above works, they really don't need the phone. Hope that helps. |
