My favorite answer, from an actual millionaire is: Money doesn't change anyone. It only lets you show what you were all along. If you were a jerk before, you will remain a jerk. If you were generous before, you will have the money to be even more generous. |

Interesting question.
I've always been conservative and careful. My parents were careful, they were not wealthy. I've always lived within my means. I've saved and invested. What I have has been built over time. There is nothing quick.
I'd have to say that I live in a nice home. There is no mortgage. Some of my kids friends think we're "rich" but of all their friends, they drive the oldest cars (1 High School, 2 College). There are no student loans.
We watch every bill. I buy a car when the wheels fall off (a frequent joke among family and close friends). My wife just shakes her head...I buy my sport jackets at Goodwill. My boys kid me buying "DG" ties (That's Dead Guy...Goodwill for $1.00). I'm frequently out of fashion; but not glaringly so. Most don't notice.
I cut my own lawn, do my own painting, do most of own repairs around the house. My boys help and are handy (construction, auto body, electrical...) Mostly because I'd be embarrassed at being an able bodied man and not doing these things myself.
I'll tell one thing. I taught my kids how to manage money. They all know how to work too. I've also been married to the same woman for 30 years. If she'll still have me; 30 more too.
You are what you are. I've got no complaints.
Hollywood is, what it is. No connection...no relation. |

Yes you start obsessing over material things. Suddenly that diamond studded watch, or the tricked out Cadillac Escalade become must haves. Feeding $100 fillet mignon steaks to your toy poodle becomes a matter of high importance. Your priority system completely changes.
But then again I'm not a millionaire. But I've known a few. And their toys and their conspicuous consumption habits take on high importance. And the Hollywood celebrities, famous singers, and pro-athletes do show us also that flaunting your wealth is highest priority. I guess it's to stir up envy in their fans and followers.
But other millionaires do keep a low profile and try to live a normal life They invest their money, open businesses, work hard, are honest, create jobs, and save for tomorrow. These are the one's I respect. Not the ones that are covered in tatooes while wearing 30 pounds of diamond studded crap like Lil Wayne, or half of Hollywood does.

I was born a millionaire, however I don't see anything special.
My grand parents and parents became multi millionaire by saving money and investing wisely. They never were spend thrifts. You can't become a multi millionaire squandering money on luxury. We always go for the cheapest way possible (but with good quality). If not, my family wouldn't be rich. |

Of course, being a millionaire has its ups and downs.
You can get anything you want, and not have to worry about the price tag. But you don't learn life skills to provide on your own. In reality, only about 2% of America are millionaires. People can think of you as snobby, stupid, and they can take advantage of you. People used you to get money out of you. So in reality, it sucks being a millionaire because you can't buy happiness. |

Life isn't about hollywood when I finally made my first Million it was good but the feeling of elation isn't there. All stays the same except the bills are larger. Mortgage. car payments ETC. I made money but I am further in debt than before and need to turn the money over to maintain the wealth that you refer to. It is like being poor but the knowledge that if I sell everything I can live for years off the profits. If I sell then there is no income but savings and the more you have the more you owe. It isn't all it is cracked up to being. |

I am 14 and am not a millionaire but i know lots of them and they are all really nice. my moms boss got us a helicopter when it flooded last year in washington so we could get to safety. also he let us ride in his private jet. When i become a millionaire or even a billionaire i am going to give back to the poor. |
