Collect sets of recipes and use them on regular basis. People waste a lot of money buying grocery items that are used only once or twice.
Use coupons for items that you would purchase without a coupon. ** A coupon isn’t a reason to buy an item.
Shop in the same grocery stores and get to know the people who work in the fresh produce / meat sections. They give you great tips on storing food and the deal of the day. For example, the manager tells me when to come in for the best selection during the week. Buying with quality in mind is also an underlying fact to save money.
Find free programs online and make grocery list. Some offer personalized lists to fit your need. Some reminds you what is running low in your kitchen to save unnecessary grocery trips. ex.

A lot of people here say to use coupons,but be careful, most times name brands are still more costly then store brands even with a coupon. Also watch the amount of soda,beer,fruit flavored drinks and fruit drink boxes. Items that them have no nutrition and make a grocery bill sky rocket |

Here is what I do:
Make a list and by each item, write an amount you think you will spend (I usually go over, for instance, 2 bell peppers $1...i get 2 for 89 cents) anyway you get the idea
Total all this up....If it totals $52, I take $60.
I stick with that list, use coupons and go to a double coupon store.
If I get money back, I put it in the spare money jar. At the end of the month, I usually have enough to take the family out for a nice evening and dining and fun! |

First thing you want to do is never go to the grocery store hungry cause then you ll buy a bunch of crap you dont need. Focus more on what you need and keep the stuff you want at a low minimum. Instead of getting name brand everything theirs certain things you can get that tastes just as good in the store brand. Also their is nothing embarrasing about using coupons cut you some out of the sunday paper and use them thats what their for. When you go to the grocery store try not to exceed your amount you were trying to pay when you walked in. i hope I helped. |

Cook from scratch - fresh veg and meat cost a fraction the cost of ready prepared meals.
Research simple alternatives to the multiple types of cleaning product - baking soda and white vinegar will clean most things.
Don't buy anything where the producer sets the size of the portion - buy bars of soap, not those bottles of liquid soap which pump out a set amount. Buy cloths and use the amount of cleaner you want, not the amount that the pre-impregnated cloths come with.
Assess whether you actually need some products - I have never used fabric conditioner and have never felt the lack. Use half the recommended amount of laundry powder. |

don't buy name brand foods, use the store brand. They're just the same! Also, look through coupons that come in the mail or newspapers that will save you money. Any good deals there are, you should stock up on them. It will save you money in the long run. Also, make a list. If you have a list, you will hopefully only buy what's on the list, and it should help you save money from impulse purchases! |

Well for one, bring all cash.
And number two, drive a hybrid vehicle like a Toyota Prius. The gas-savings will offset the surcharge that grocery stores use for credit card purchases. |
