It's made at a place called the Mint. There are two or three locations in the U.S. that currently produce money.
As for why they don't make money for poor people, that would make money worthless. It's called inflation. |

well i know for sure that people design the money and then machines put seperate codes and stuff on them. if the machine made money for the poor the the more money it made, the less the money would be worth, so everything would start to cost more and more until people couldn't afford anything anymore. the economy has a delicate balance and printing too much extra money and just handing it out wouldn't do any good for it. it's already is a slump. and the goverment does print billions of dollars everyday, and what they do is the give it to banks, so when u get money from the bank, ur getting new money, and the money u GIVE to the bank eventually ends up at the government where they dispose of the old coins and bills that are getting too worn down to work anymore. |

All of your questions can be answered there. They are the people who print US currency.
You can't just print money. A surplus of currency would drive the value of a dollar down. The poor would still be poor.
There are countries that naively did this. Some of them the exchange rate is 6,000,000 of their dollars to one US dollar. The value of goods and services doesn't change. So what used to cost a dollar now cost 6,000,000 and it just as hard to get that $1 as it now is to get the $6,000,000 |

Yes it is a factory where people work.
If they give money to the poor for free, it discourages them to work. And if they dont work but are getting free money, eventually people that dont like their job that are not poor, will say "Hey...im going to be poor so i can get free money!" Then eventually the rich have no workers and their businesses fail, therefore making them poor and having to get free money too. So now everyone is getting free money, but the money is really worthless because there is nowhere to go spend it because there are no workers to give your newfound wealth to to purchase items. (And before you go thinking that everything in the store is free now, remember that there are no workers now to stock those shelves or even make the items that you want to buy because they are getting free money!)
So thats the short of it....If you think the poor should be given free money, make sure its earned money from someone elses pocket or your pocket or it will throw the whole economy into a tailspin. |

Money is made up of a bunch of different things. It is made in a type of factory, it has many stages it goes through.
We cannot simply give poor people money making machines, if we did then the American dollar would be worthless and our country would literally crumble.
I went to Washington D.C and took a tour of the factory, it is pretty cool, it is behind special glass so they can't get robbed and security cameras and guards all over the place. You can't take pictures either. If you go there sometime you should visit it, you would like it! |

Ever heard of hyperinflation? Zimbabwe has it now and Germany used to have it in 1918-1923.
Look up the blackmarket rate for the Zimbabwe dollar and compare it with the official rate offered by the Government when you use a bank.
To pay its bills the government simply prints money without the resources (gold, securities, foreign currency) to back it. |
