KMG | How many credit cards do you have? How often did you use it? |
Do you think credit cards help you? Or its' harm you? |

I charge everyone on my credit cards. I have 3: American Express, Discover, Visa. I use the Discover exclusively because it gives me 5% cash on my purchases. But, it is only accepted in some places and in the US only, so I use the AmEx when I can't use the Discover because it gives me 1% back. The Visa I don't use. I pay off the whole bill every month.
If you get a credit card, get one with no annual fee that gives you money back. Pay the full statement balance every month on time. If you do that, it is like borrowing someone else's money while yours earns interest in the bank, then getting some of it back or getting perks on top of that (cashback bonus, membership rewards). Plus, doing this will help build your credit.
If you have credit problems or don't have experience with credit DON'T get one. They are way too tempting and you'll be in trouble before you know it :( It is amazing how much and how fast the credit card fees can add up... |

Credit cards can really screw you over. Use a debit card and keep track of your finances. That way, you're spending money that you actually have, instead of someone else's money that you have to pay back with hefty interest fees. |

We still have 1, but once it's paid off at the end of the year we are cancelling it and never getting one ever again.
I don't think they help you, even if you are "responsible" with them. Something will happen where you can't pay it off at the end of the month, and all of a sudden you have a large balance.
You're much better off to save up about 3-6 months of your expenses and set them aside as an emergency fund, then you shouldn't have a need for them. |

Harm you. I have none but it makes life difficult as I cannot buy online as easily. Yes, they do harm you and the banks love it. You have to be strong willed to give them up....but it is worth it. |

Credit cards are never a good idea. You will usually end up paying more than you thought.
The borrower is slave to the lender. |

if you pay them off in full each month, no problem. If you can't or don't, they can become a big problem. Best to not use them.
the key is using them wisely and responsibly... If you can't do that, don't use them at all. |

4. One Visa, One Mastercard, One Amex, One Discover.
The Mastercard is also a debit card. It's the only one I use. Credit Cards are necessary to navigate modern life, but they are very dangerous. Using the debit card only allows me to spend money I already have. I am not interested in paying interest to borrow money.
Hope that helps. |

we probably have 12 credit cards - most are cut up, but the accounts are still open.
We have one closed account that still has a balance (hurts your credit).
Two that we use - one is for large purchases (tires, appliances, mail order, etc. ) the other is our BEST BUY card for when we get electronics (we always get 0% financing and get the card paid off before we incur any interest.)
Credit cards can help you build your credit, but can hurt you financially.
How do I improve my Credit Score
First it’s important to understand some of the factors affecting your credit score:
Your bill paying: whether you pay your bills on time, have ever been contacted by a collection agency, or whether or not you've declared bankruptcy
The amount of money you owe: the more money you owe, the lower your score
The length of your credit history: the longer you've been establishing credit, the higher your credit score
The combination of your credit: the richer your variety of credit, meaning the more ways you spread out your credit (through cards, mortgages, car loans, etc.), the higher your credit score
Your credit score is extremely important these days. Like your social security number, your credit score follows you wherever you go, whether it's to get a mortgage, apply for a car loan, or even to get a job. So naturally, if you know how to check your credit and if you're armed with tips on how to improve your credit score, you will be in better shape than someone who isn't.
Ways to Improve Your Credit Score
Review your credit report for any errors and correct glitches that may not be accurate (but are still hurting your current score). You will get a free copy of your credit report with your free credit score at CreditReport.com
Refrain from opening a lot of new accounts over a short period of time, especially if your credit history is on the shorter side to begin with
Pay your bills on time
Don't open any credit lines you probably won't use. For example, don't open a lot of store credit cards just to get the initial 10 percent discount
Instead of moving credit card balances to lower rate cards, try to pay them off. Transferring balances can change the ratio of your total credit card balances to your total available credit lines, hurting your credit score
Open a few new credit accounts, use them responsibly, and make your payments on time
Try to use your credit cards less. Even better, pay them off every month. The bigger the space between your total credit limits and the balance you carry, the better. Try to keep your balance below 25 percent (for example, $2,500 if your credit limit is $10,000)
Contrary to what you may have heard, don't close old, paid-off accounts. Credit companies used to advise people to close old credit cards they were no longer using. But closing these cards shortens your credit report and makes you seem less credit-worthy
Avoid bankruptcy. Declaring bankruptcy is one of the worst things you can do for your credit score. It may seem like the easy way out in the short term, but over time it will cost you tons in the way of high interest rates |

I have 4. I only use them when I feel the need to keep more cash in my pockets. My choice is usually American Express because of the cash back perks. I always pay the bill in full every time so credit cards help me and I help them |

i have about 6 credit cards and i only use them when i really need to. they help me out in the sense that if there is an occasion when i need to buy something and i dont have the cash, then they come in handy. i dont consider them a harm because i have control over the amount that i charge and they have helped me establish my credit and now i have an excellent credit score because i always pay on time! |
