I would consider myself pretty affluent. I, myself, am not wealthy though.
My father owns 9 student-loan companies (largest is worth $400m in netprice) and 1 pre-need company (is currently worth $200m in netprice). Via trust fund arrangements I earn around $4m a year. My father earns $15,000,000 +. In 2002, his peak, he was earning $20,000,000+.
He is a self-made man though, who grew up living on the streets of Harlem, NY. He lived in "public housing" until he was 15 years old. He actually made terrible marks until Sophomore year of high school where he began getting straight A's (all it took was one teacher to believe in him) and then he was able to get a full Merrot Scholarship to Penn. There he founded the Penn-in-Washington program and triple majored in Political Science and two others I can't remember (haha). Yep... that's pretty much it. It's a true story too.
That is how i got to where I am now. The day I turn 25 years old, I am set for life.

Well i worked my bottom off for 40 years. My shifts were from 12 noon to 12 midnight 7 days a week. I had nothing when i started work and when i retired 5 years ago my Net Assets were well over 35 million.
And now they are close to 45 million. I have sold quiet a bit of land and livestock and also homes that i own. I am selling all my stock shares.
And not putting money in any-bank. I have a facility where large amounts of cash can be kept.
If you want money you have to earn it. The only thing free in this life is a hard time. |

noo...whats funny is that my dad is a vp of a company in charge of designing buildings (like all the major sports arenas in NYC), and my mom is a top lawyer of exxonmobil...but my physical gym instructor makes almost as much of them combined, and all he does is talk to me while i work out...lol |

well whats your definition of being rich? I think I am rich because I have a loving family that is always there for me if I have a problem I want to talk about.. I have god in my life, A loving fiance, great dogs ... I am fortunate to be able to attend college an have a job that offers great health insurance. |

That depends on what you consider to be Rich. If I had another dollar, I really wouldn't know what to do with it. I arrived at this position by being frugal and smart with my money. I try not to waste, as I see many others doing. I remember to save every pay day and, I save for things I want to buy and, pay cash. Good luck. |

We all are rich. Everyone has different comfort levels, so in essence some will live to work......while others will work to live.
Being healthy, happy, at peace, and comfortable is a wealth that can't be bought.
Remember this too....we can always get more money, we can't get more time.

I'm rich. I worked very hard all my life, sometimes up to 5 jobs and invested very wisely.
