♥ ☼ ♥ ☼ LOVE MY LABS!! | How many of you have a full-time job and........? |
also have a part time job? I am thinking about doing it but am not looking forward to it. The bills are just adding up for me, with a mortgage, utilities, car payment and now the high cost of groceries and gas, I can't do it with one job anymore.
Anyone in the same boat as me? Additional Details Oh, and can you tell me what you do for your part time job? |

Been in the same boat for twenty years now. I've always had a full time job and some other sort of income. Fortunately now my part time jobs are work at home but I still put in the hours. It sucks...
Part time jobs are: Web design, software testing and writing. |

I've been working 2 jobs for a few years now and it's really not that bad. Try to find a part time job that is not too stressful. For example, answer phones in a customer service center. That way, you are not worried about work when you leave for the day. However, try your best to have at least one day off from both jobs. You need a break from work. |

I don't now, but when I was in my 20s and early 30s I ALWAYS had a second job to help myself out. I only worked 3 or 4 nights a week, about 16 hours a week. I chose jobs that were relatively low stress, and that extra $110/week was pretty much my spending money for booze, cigs and a night out on the town per week. |

So far, I am the one with the part time job so that I can be the "kiddie Cadillac" after school. My boyfriend has two jobs, one part time and one full. He does it for the extras that his basic salary doesn't cover. I also get some child support (that only started happening last year after many years of nothing from the ex) and since my son is disabled, I get help from SSI for him. If not for that I could NOT have just one job. I once worked three part time jobs at once, so I was almost always at work and it can be addicting. I got used to always being busy and I guess I still am, but now I don't get paid for most of what I do. I hope I am rewarded in other ways when the kids grow up and can look back and say "mom did that for me". I could just as easily work the second and third job and still have that same wish. |

Yes, I was making awesome money Bartending two nights a week, plus I had a little part time job at an auto repair shop as a secretary. The bar owner was nasty to me, so I quit and went full time at the repair shop, it's awful, no money and I have to get up early! I'm starting a part time bar job on Sunday so we will see how it goes. |

I have a full time job and a part time job. I do a 45 hour working week minimum, (without working on the weekends) and if I do pick up a few weekend shifts, it can be closer to 55 hours. I wouldn't want to do more than that currently. I did a 68 hour week once (started at 6 am, finished at midnight a few days) and it wrecked me.
I only do it so I can pay my house off in 5 years. It's worth it.
You definitely need to have a routine. I make my own lunches and freeze them so I can reheat them at work. Saves me worrying about meals. Also I keep a stash of food in my locker in case I forget lunches. You need to pace yourself in order to do it.
Perhaps you could cut something from your expenditure. Having a car payment is terrible, because it's just an ongoing cost and a lot of it is interest. Can you buy stuff in bulk so you don't have to spend as much per item? Can you get a boarder or renter into the house to cut costs?
Best wishes |

I have what I call my "semi full time job" - I take care of my 2 year old neice 7:30-4:30 every M-F (with my son) and make a little money. Plus I work retail, evenings and weekends, about 25 hours a week. Plus I do some work on the side every month for a doctor friend of my mother-in-laws. My husband works for the USPS but is a replacement carrier (associate) waiting patiently (sort of) to get a full time permanent position and does not always get the full time hours, so I have to make sure I make enough. |

I think that there are alot of us in the same boat financially. Everything seems to be going up except our salaries! My husband and I have been married 4 years, and for the majority of that time, we each have had just one full-time job. My husband works as a certified mechanic and licensed smog tech. However, from October through February is typically their slow time, and he would always get laid off during that time. He got tired of always getting laid off (especially since it falls around the holidays), and the last time he got laid off, he went back to school to study Corrections. He graduated recently, and now works full time at one of the prisons as a Correctional Officer. He also works part-time as a mechanic and smog tech. We also own our own medical transcription business which I run on a full-time basis, and I also work for a private investigator part-time. It can be difficult juggling everything at times, but we want to use my husband's VA loan and buy a house in the near future, so it will eventually all pay off. Plus, my husband is really good about helping out around the house, so that helps alot too. |

I did night inventories for a while. It is tough but you can do it. I ended up cutting back on my expenses and going back to one job. |

I just got my first full time job almost a year ago. I thought I was going to dread it but I actually love it. It's helping me keep on top of my bills and gives me a little spending money! |
