Yes, $14.42 per hour is correct BEFORE taxes, the all encompassing nemisis of workers. However, the Federal tax bracket for income of $30,000 is around 15%. The 2007 tax tables say you'd owe $4113, netting you $25,887, assuming you file single. Divide that by 2080 working hours per year and you're only making $12.45 per hour. And of course, whatever state you live in will want their share of your income. The average state tax is 5.71 % which would lower your hourly wage another $0.82 (82 cents), to $11.63. Your state may have lower or higher taxes. Oh, and some cities want a small token of appreciation for your right to live there......subtract that as well, and you'll need TWO jobs. Your standard of living is all about EDUCATION. Learn everything you can, as quickly as you can. |
