I am making a new website very soon, and I want to figure out how much I should pay my sister. I am designing the website, and she is building it, and hosting will be $4.95 a month Say I have a very good week and rake in $500, how much should I pay her?
Or i don't do so hot, and make $100, how much should i pay her? Or say that i do okay, and make $250, how much should i pay her, you can use for an example like fifty-fifty, but with any amount for each of us as long as it adds up to 100% of all of the money that I make. Or the percentage of the money, for an example she gets 35%, and i get 65%, or you could just say she gets $200 and i get $300, or any way that you would like to do it.

Really depends on how much upkeep there is on the site on a monthly basis. If you are continly changing the look and feel of the site will you be providing all the new graphics for the site and just have your sister do the plumbing ?
Also will the site have a lot of scripting/PHP or other programming needs ?
How much time will each of you be doing on the site on a monthly basis. (Updates/maintnence etc).
I would figure that you should be looking at a close to 50/50 split. You may want a little more as you are the person who created the idea, but without the plumbers the site would go no where |

i would say whoevers paying the hosting gets that little bit more. or if the hosting is being payed from the profits then 50/50 |

i think 35%-40% of whatever you make is plenty. because she is actually building the site and that takes A LOT of time and patience. then the 4.95/month to the hosting and the rest of the profits to you. |

Give her 50% of all your earnings, if you make $ 200.00 then she gets $100.00. This is only fair because afterall she is building it and you NEED her to do that. Good Luck with the website! |

I would say do a percentage of 30-40% of the total. This is your website so you should get the 60%-70%. Talk to her, and ask her what she wants. You should see how much she wants before you tell her what you are gonna give her. She might want less than 40%, so let her tell you first what she expects and then maybe you can negotiate something that works for both of you. |

If this is a one time design, I would agree to a flat rate payment upfront. If she will be maintaining the site for you, it depends. How much work will YOU do in the business compared to how much she does? If she is doing all the work, why should you get paid? I know this is not a direct answer, but it may help you THINK about the question. |
