Good question. My 7 year olds think £5 is loads of money. I think probably 1 Million is a lot.
Big difference isn't it? |

How we see things outside us depends onhow things are inside us. $100 looks so big when we have to pay our taxes and so small when we go to a restaurant. |

I think that a million is a sickening amount of money "too much" and I have often wondered why the national lottery isn't capped at something like 250,000 which is a heck of a lot of money, it would buy and furnish a home. I'd say half that again and you're still talking a lot of money. Around ten years wages for some folk.
Having said that, I've got £20 in my pocket...and as I don't need anything from the shops then that's a lotta lolly to have "free" so near to payday. Might just have to get me a takeaway later...hmmmm foooood |

you will never have a lot of money because the more you have the more you want.you always want lots more money. |

A lot of money to me would be twice what I get paid a month. My monthly salary covers my expenditures with a little to spare so I would say I would consider twice my monthly salary a lot as it means that I have paid all my bills and have the same again to spend/save (I would consider myself very wealthy if I did!!). |

to owe or to own?
To owe $30,000 is a lot.
To own $30,000 is not very much.
I think a lot would be an amount where you would have to say to yourself, "Crap, I could NEVER come up with that kind of money!"
For me, that would be probably about 200K or more. For you it may be way less, or way more. |

As long as you have 1 penny, you will always be rich and never broke!
Having alot of money is not what makes a person "RICH"... |

About a hundred thousand pounds as that would make a difference to my bank account and to the family finances, less than that would dent both but so as not to be noticed and more would be a blessing to the finances or a real struggle. |

it depends on what i need it for i guess.
a lot is 10,000 to have in my checking account
but in general its hard to say
what about 1 billion dollars. |

We`ve got £80,000 but that`s not enough because we dont own any property., so One million would be nice - enough to buy a nice house, nice car and have some squids left to do what you need to. |

It's all relative isn't it, depending on how much you normally have. All I can say is that if I were lucky enough to have a lottery win, although some might consider £1 million a lot, by the time I'd settled debts, given to relations etc, there wouldn't be much over so I wouldn't think that amount enough. £5m would be satisfactory, I could pay debts, help family and have plenty over to ensure security for the rest of my life by investing wisely and having income generated from it. |

if you have 1 penny at the 1st of the month and duplicate it every day by the end of the month how much you got?
1x1=2
2x2=4
4x4=16
16x16=256 end of the month is more than £10,000,000
Any way a lot of money is what you aim for just get it in small bits and it will only grow.
i started thinking a £1000 was a lot now i would not wake up for less than £2000 a day.
it just grows the more you have the more you want.

$10 is a lot for a hamburger, but $10 is not a lot for a pair of shoes.
In terms of dollars, I think $100 is "a lot" if I have it in my pocket.
Money is abstract and is valuation is subjective, so don't get too caught up in the zeros. |

The answer depends entirely on what your financial bracket it. And, few people who answer it will be in the same bracket as you. So, the question doesn't really have much value.
So, if I say $500,000 or more is a lot, few will agree. |
