we have about £40 a week spare - isn't much i know but we don't splash out too much, if we need money for something big then hubby does overtime for extra money.

I work on a 20/80 ratio. 20% of my income are in savings and 80% are spend on necessities.

Not bad especially since I gave up smoking and saved the cash.I reckon I have pensions of about £850 a month. No mortgage. Utilities £110, TV and Phone/broadband £60.Things like insurances £25, Car tax and insurance £30 Petrol £15 Servicing Say £15.Food etc. £160. I reckon I spend about half my income, the rest accumulates until I want to make a major buy , like a new TV for example. Generally find life pretty comfortable. Sorry I forgot council tax, thats £95 a month.

I have almost nothing left after bills. I keep trying and fall short. I am hoping some day I will be able to save.

i always subtract 10% from what i earn to keeps for myself and then use what i have left over to spay bills and living expenses. otherwise i feel i have worked my *** off all week and had to give all my money away.

Enough! And I am grateful for that. I am conscious that I could work more, to have more and spend more but I have enough to enjoy life, to live for the moment and to spend time doing the things that are truly enriching!

In the past I have been very caught up with ownership. Now my emphasis is friends and family, learning, fitness, fun.
