Financial advisers always say 6 months' pay should be set aside for emergencies. I know that isn't possible for many people, but I got started by just setting aside a little at a time. It builds up quickly when the economy is rolling (money markets, CDs) but the last year and a half haven't been good to us penny pinchers. |
