i've no pride i'm not ashamed, i earn around about 12k sterling a year after tax, some days i cant even afford to eat and i'm a skilled building site labourer thats how bad things are in the north of ireland. so a good wage to me after tax would be 15k a year, a very good wage would be 20k a year. I'm the lowest paid person on site sometimes my stomach is trying to rip itself out and i see workmates throw perfectly good food in the bin and i'm nearly crying writing this. Thats how pathetic my life is! |

Take the average price of a house in your area, where you could live in comfort ; say 300,000 dollars in Calf. divide by three that is a good salary. 100,000 dollars in Calf. for very good 20 % extra is about right. In most places it is about the same. |

No good answer on that. Depends on where you live, how old you are, how much education you have, what field you're in, how much experience you have, how much importance you put in work in the work/life balance. That all being said, if you're making over $100,000 you're doing pretty good and a target to tax the hell out of for the Democratic party. |

It depends on where you live. When I lived in Texas 45K was excellent for a single guy cuz after paying all of my bills I still had a couple of grand to play with monthly but in California 45K is peanuts. It would take an extra 25K to live my Texas lifestyle so it really depends on the cost of living in your area. |

In this day and age a good salary is one which comfortably covers your outgoings without your having to worry. Very good also allows spending money on top. With the numbers of immigrants flooding in a good salary might shortly be considered any salary. |
