Rich? in what subject area? umm if finance is all your asking well there is no exacting figure as each of us has our own perceptions/ realities etc... some folks find a few $ alot while others find 60 million just not enough...
keeping up with the * hey wait who are the jones again and why exactly is it that I care? NOT happy is rich money is just a vehicle or mode of transport. for example Lets Imagine I live in a lets say One of the "more desirable" (and private) areas of southern california, and just the average car in my area problably goes between a low of say $150,000.00 to a 7 figure high which would not make sense to the average working person. the real estate? well $1,000,000.00 cash will possibly get you a nice but very small short term summer cottage rental,well maybe, If you knew Someone. In the public market in the other areas you can get an average middle class smaller 2 br home for oh say in the $875,000.00 to $950,000.00 and upwards range..
Whereas In some smaller city or town 1 million would make you towns owner. In some places the money is quite different than others...So as you can see rich is an individualistic conceptualization and there is no exact answer that fits everyone... |

By today's standards by who.
Being rich is having enough money to be out of debt, to have a comfortable life (adequate, food, housing, clothing etc.) and money to do the everyday things that are pleasurable.
That is just the right amount of money to be happy and not worry about the future.
But to be rich?? any other method is just bunches of money, that can and probably will, be squandered on "things" that you will tire of, will not want to take care of, you will want the constant gratification of buying more and more stuff, that you really don't want. and the people around you will either despise you, or stay around you to leech off of your money.
I am rich, I eat well, drive a 20 yr old Pickup, live in a nice house,above average for my area, I can go on a couple of good trips every year, spend about $500/yr of clothes and have no worries.
I don't collect stuff, like boats and planes, and ATVs, or snow mobiles, or motor cycles or sports cars, I have the money, I am a millionaire....But I am Happy, When I die, someone else can be bothered discovering the truth about wealth.
But in the meantime, I will enjoy my life , in my simple way, The big money I have is there for back-up in case the need arises that I don't forsee. I am not a miser, Just happy. |

Who knows. Depends where you live and if you have a home. If you live in California and you have a million dollars, your basically poor. If you live in South Dakota and have a nice $400,000 and a million dollars, you might be consider "rich".
I say anywhere from 16-30 Million would definitely put you in the category of "RICH" |
