you have to be 16 and have good credit. dont go stupid with money trust me myself my mother and my partner cant even have a debit card now as every bank has refused us due to poor credit,taking out too much credit such as car finance,store card will wreck your life if you dont do it wisely. |

My children and 18 and 17 and they both got a Switch/Maestro card via the Clydesdale bank when they were 15 years old. They didnt ask for one, the cards were posted out to them when their old cards were due to runout. |

You just need to have a bank account to obtain a debit card. A debit card will only give you access to YOUR money in YOUR account. Doesnt matter if your 3 yrs old. To have a credit card, I think its 18. |

You can open an account by yourself at 16, but to get a debit card you would have to have an account with your parents. If you want to have an account by yourself you can wait till you're 18, but you can get around that if they see that you keep a substantial amount of money. I also know people that open an account with a friend that's 18 to get a debit card, but you would really have to trust that person. |

you have to be 18 years of age and have regular money going into an account or at least a substantial amount of money in a bank account before you can get a debit card, or your parents will have to sign as a guarantee for you.
