How safe is it?
If someone you don't know that well will transfer money to your bank account, do you run the risk to lose your money or something like that?
If you give that person information like, your account name, sort code, account number and the bank name; can he get in your account and steal your money?
Additional Details
This person will transfer money from England to South America.

If you bank in the UK, when you write a cheque out to a person, your account name, sort code, account number and the bank name are on it. People do it all the time!!

I do not believe that the above 4 pieces of information alone is enough for someone to get unauthorised access to your account. However if they are able to get hold of other information (address, date of birth, employer etc), then you will be at risk. For peace of mind, ask them to give you a cheque instead.

bessie
crazy lady!! You might as well just give them a blank cheque, never, ever give out those details!

Briahna Bree Bree Smiles
Yeah girl you better watch out you should never gine anyone that kind of information

tomatosupreme
You are asking this as a joke, right? Never, ever, give this information to someone you don't know, and you should really never give it to anyone you do know either. It would be so easy for someone to steal your money, and if you don't know them very well, that is probably what they are trying to do. There is no reason for a legitimate company to need this information. (Direct Deposit through an employer is an exception.)

one of the things i learned in my finance class is:

"a good deal NEVER seeks you out"

NEVER GIVE OUT DETAILS, WHOEVER IT IS CAN USE THE DETAILS GIVEN TO COMMIT FRAUD - USE YOUR DETAILS TO OBTAIN CREDIT - DON'T EVEN GO THERE !!!! - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

joechuksy
The answer is No! That sort of information is almost readily available to anyone and is not enough to enter your account and steal your money. Anyone you write a cheque to almost certainly has these details without even asking.

What this person wants to do is use your account to pay in a fake cheque and get you to take the risk of withdrawing the money on their behalf should the fake cheque clear. Due to the amounts on these fake cheques, they usually clear and before the company or person whose cheque has been replicated discovers, the amount has been withdrawn and the persons involved have taken off, afterwhich you as the the poor account holder will become liable and will face possible charges.

Please don't allow anyone to transfer money into your account, unless you are 100% sure of the person and where the money is originating from, no matter what percentage you are being offered. You could easily get charged with money laundering.

Anyone who asks for this info (unless they work at your bank or your setting up a direct deposit with your employer) is looking to steal your money. Don't ever give it to anyone!

CatoCt3
Yes! With such information, they could definitely assume your identity, steal your money and ruin your credit.
