I worked for this woman for nearly a year. I stopped working for her in June of 2008. She still owes me $625. $500 of it is from what she didn't add to my previous check. $125 of it is the last hours that I worked for her. She acknowledges that she owes me, she just hasn't paid me. She avoids my calls and emails, but my husband has talked to her and she always tells him "I 'forgot' to send the check. I'll send it today." Then a week or so goes by and no check. |

Well i feel SO sorry. That is such a rip off! Girl you do NOT deserve that. I know you worked hard. Just tell the women: "Hey lady either give me a raise. Or you don't deserve a employee like me!" Well she better give you that check or i will give her a piece of my mind lol!!! |

I would call the labor board -- if it was a taxed gig and you have some sort of paperwork to prove it.
If it was under the table though, all you can do is badger her daily until she coughs it up.

Contact the Wage and Hour board. There are laws governing pay. Call your state unemployment office and ask them for the number to call. |

sue. it's the only way. just make sure you send her a e-mail or talk on the phone, get it on the record in paper or audio that she owes you the money, she knows she owes you, and she knows how much. once you have evidence of her saying, "yes, i know i ow you x$, i can have x$ to you by this date."
now sue. don't worry about court costs, take out a loan because with this evidence, you win the case in five minutes. |
