There are a lot of legitimate jobs online...At the same time there are also a lot of scams...So you need to be cautious before you sign up for something...As a thumb role, if you have to pay for something to join them (as a joining fee) then they are usually scams.
The first place is to search for internet marketing blogs...These are filled with information...All free..Read as much as you can.
Some of the ways internet marketing can earn you money is through :
1. Affiliate marketing - You sell other peoples products for a commission. Go to Cj.com...There are lot of products out there.
2. eBay selling
3. Write eBooks (on any topic)
4. Start a niche site and earn money through adsense.
5. Start a blog
One thing though is that internet marketing is not easy money...It is a lot of hard work...At least initially...And then once all is set up properly you start earning passive income

Hello glad you mentioned residual income. That's the one that everyone is after.
Actually, the best way to get started in making money out of it is join the right program.

First to clarify a term you used “Residual income”. To me residual income means receiving a regular payment of money for something you did. So for example if you sold an item on ebay that would be a single sale and brings in no further money for that item in the future (i.e. no residual income). If, however, you got someone to join a service (e.g. Website Hosting) or membership website (e.g. Dating website) that they pay monthly to belong to, you could receive a monthly commission as long as that person continues to pay their monthly membership fee (this is what I would call residual income).
To be paid the commissions mentioned above you would need to be an Affiliate for the service or membership site and then promote their site.
Affiliates can also earn commission by promoting other thing that only pay a commission once each time an item is sold, for example you might promote a specific Digital Camera as an affiliate and be paid for each camera sold.
If being an Affiliate is something that sound of interest to you, you could spend (waste) a lot of time researching on the web as I have done until I found the following useful sites:-
First have a look at the information at http://www.ClickDigitalProducts.com/featured/ebooks/super-affiliate-handbook.html which explains how affiliate marketing works and mentions an ebook written by a woman who is making money as an affiliate.
