I would recommend pay day advance or applying for overdraft protection on your checking account, its like a line of credit attached to your checking account. Some places call it cash reserve or ready reserve

There are 2 situations here.
1. You make enough money to normally cover the rent but lack it at this time.
2. You don't have enough money to pay the rent normally.
1. is a loaner. You can take something to the pawn shop, borrow from friends, use your credit card or, contact your landlord, explain the situation and set a new date to pay them back.
2. You have to find ways to earn money. Sell things (not pawn them, as that is a loan). Quick cash jobs (not involving the sex industry) include laboring work.

There are a lot of social service organizations but everyone is being hit hard by the economic and mortgage crisis. Two days is not much notice.
Preference is almost always given to families or to people with children. You should check in with your local state welfare office but not expect anything as they're swamped.
Sell your blood or plasma, pawn anything you have of value, sell what you can on ebay or craigslist, stand outside with a sign offering a days labor. Be advised that because of how hard times are pawn shops are being very picky.
